First of all, the only way a PG is ever going to play for us is by having a unique first name ;D Sebastian, Delonte, and Rajon are not names you hear on a regular basis (plus we had Orien too). That's why Dan Dickau is no longer with the team.
There's a likelyhood that Delonte and Telfair can be our starting backcourt. Wally was our starter last season, and could very well be our starting 2 this season, but there are 2 possible reasons why he could be our backup instead. For one, his knee may not be up for the riggers of playing 32 mpg anymore--especially if we need a healthy and strong Wally in the playoffs. To keep him fresh and healthy throughout the season, lasting beyond 82 games, using him off the bench for 25 mpg makes sense. Secondly, we lacked scoring off the bench last season and our bench scoring was near the bottom of the league. This year, we will have Gerald Green in the mix and he should be of some help. But having a proven veteran scorer like Wally off the bench will give us security.
So in the likelyhood that Delonte is our backcourt wing player and Bassy is our playmaker, can they be effective against the better teams in the NBA? They obviously give up some height. Telfair is shorter than your average NBA PG and Delonte is a couple of inches shorter than the ideal height for a SG. Defensively, this will be a problem because taller backcourt players will back them down.
Should Doc play this backcourt tandem?

Dennis Johnson and Danny Ainge started together in the backcourt and they were no taller than 6'4". I'm sure it could work if this team can run 24/7.

The only guy other than Pierce that I am most certain will be in the starting lineup if healthy is Wally.
I just can't see him coming off the bench. DA acquired him to be that second guy. Ricky used to be it and he was replaced by Wally.
Pierce and Wally to me are the only lock starters.
After that, the competition begins. The starting point guard spot will be either Bassy or West. I expect Bassy to be the starting point out of training camp with Delonte not going out without a competitive fight. The job will not be handed to Bassy. Delonte will be a super sixth man combo guard off the bench.
Although I do see a lot of Delonte at the 2 playing with either Bassy or Rajon when Wally is resting

telfair is 5 11, west is 6 2. i can see tracys, kobes, wades and everybody else shooting effortless jumpers all day. guys, guys, THEY ARE TOO SHORT to start alongside. maybe if you replace west with allen it could be a different story.

I've been thinking that Wally is sure to be a starter, but then other scenarios popped in my head (like the 2 I mentioned previously). Plus, Esco, Ricky came over and was the starter, but then was moved to the bench, and he proved to be an effective weapon off the bench. His move enabled us to shore up a weakness.
JHVOS, I also conjure up thoughts of an effective backcourt combination of Ainge and DJ and wonder if the same magic can work with Sebastian and Delonte. The height factor does incur some negativity, just because, like BC says, guys like Kobe, McGrady, Wade and other taller guards will shoot over whoever we have guarding them.
I like the idea of having either Wally or Delonte starting at the 2 because with playmaking PG's, giving them kickout perimeter options is very vital. As they penetrate into the lane, defenses will collapse. Kicking it out to the perimeter, to a guy who can stroke the ball will be huge.
But at the same time, I like the idea of starting Tony Allen at the 2. To me, his is a tremendous asset to have on the court. He has a lot to offer because of how versatile he is. He may not be a shooter like Delonte or Wally, but he's a slick player who will work well with the mercurial Sebastian Telfair.
