Denver Trade Breakdown Outgoing Kenyon Martin 6-9 PF from Cincinnati 12.9 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.6 minutes Incoming Wally Szczerbiak 6-7 SF from Miami-OH 19.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.0 apg in 38.0 minutes Change in team outlook: +6.1 ppg, -2.0 rpg, and +1.6 apg.
Boston Trade Breakdown Outgoing Wally Szczerbiak 6-7 SF from Miami-OH 19.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.0 apg in 38.0 minutes Incoming Kenyon Martin 6-9 PF from Cincinnati 12.9 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.6 minutes Change in team outlook: -6.1 ppg, +2.0 rpg, and -1.6 apg.
Successful Scenario Due to Denver and Boston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Denver and Boston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

K-Mart can run in an uptempo offense and hit the open jumpers consistently (roughly 50% from the field). He isn't a type of the rebounder but he does have his moments on the boards (avg 7.5).
Issues: - Alarming attitude (got suspeneded in the playoffs) - Microfracture surgery - His deal is two years longer than Wally - Could limit Al Jefferson growth process
Positives: - Secures the PF spot for the next few years - Solid veteran for a very young front court - Will give us roughly 12-15 pts 7-9 rebs per year - Experiences in uptempo offense that have been successful (Denver and NJ) - Allows D.West, G.Green, and Rondo to get more minutes.

Actually i want to change my vote. He makes us better but takes us further from a championship. Right now, we're at the state where we need to get better. Even with Martin, this team stills needs the young guys to step up. In other words, Green needs to become a star, Telfair or Rondo has to become a starter, and Perk needs to be a consistent 30 minute starter. Even then, one of these guys need to be just as good if not better than Pierce. I'm not sure where I would vote. But, I'm leaning more to no because of the two years Martin has over Wally.

I like Martin's aggresiveness and I think he's a tremendous athlete (powerful and quick). But I don't like his attitude. If attitude wasn't a factor, I would like to make the trade for him. And if outside shooting wasn't as important in our gameplan, I would make him our starting SF. I really think he can find a lot of success running with Telfair.
But unfortunately, his attiude is really worrisome and I wouldn't want him to affect our good chemsitry.
Martin has speed, quickness and power. Wally has outside shooting. I think we'd feel more of an impact from Martin.

Id vot no. Bad contract, bad attitude, and he's had the dreaded microfracture surgery.

How do you spell punk? Just what we don't need. 2 years; an eternity on bad wheels. Wally's contract ends just as Green will be ready to take over at the 2. Gomes, Al Jeff and Powe at the four will be lethal. I'm more worried about a back up for Perkins. Where's Theo? Don't you find it odd that he hasn't been in for a physical? Telfair is the key to the season and the future. If he is allowed the ball to create, all should be well.

No. KM has nothing to show. Thug for life. Always an excuse for poor performance.

First off, I never really liked K-Mart. I actually think Walmart is a lot better.
...........anyway.................
I think his bad attitude rap is a bit blown out of proportion. He would fill a need, but the 2 biggest things that would worry me are:
Contract - When your paying somebody 52 mil over 4 years, they better produce, and at a high level. Big Al could probably do what he did last year for a fraction of the cost (contract)
Injuries - He hasn't had a healthy season since who knows how long and he makes Big Al look like Cal Ripken Jr. Gotta get on the floor first to make an impact.
Leaning toward no, unless Denver agreed to pay half his contract.

Actually AL and Kenyon are both pretty much young men trapped in a 104 year old's body. Al played a whopping 71 games his rookie year before an even more whopping 59 last year, so at this rate we can expect about 47 games this year. Kenyon has never played more than 77. His seasons have gone
68 73 77 65 70 56
Pretty bad. I'd take him as a backup for backup money. Some players need to be told that about themselves. Like TO. he got a pretty decent wake up call this year when pretty much every team in the league avoided him like the plague.

So how many games did Perkins play in his rookie year? And how many in his second year? Hmm .... going by that, we should have only expected to see him play in only about 50 games last year.

Let's keep in mind that George Karl has a doghouse that is very tough get out of. He is not sensitive to the player's needs. K-Mart could respond a lot better to Doc Rivers and Paul Pierce than to Melo and Karl. Then again I would be skeptical if we made that trade.

Sorry Derren, but Perk has played more games and more minutes each year whereas Al played less, hence we can expect Perk to play more this year.

Shouldnt you be upset at Perk for not being physically ready for the NBA game right out of high school. He wasted an entire year getting into NBA shape! What a wuss!

Um no. I'm upset at the coach for not giving him any playing time, and wish the NBDL had had the same deals at the time as GG had last year. Also you are right. He took a whole year to get in shape. So what is Al's excuse already? How much you wanna bet every single big other than maybe Pitts and Scala comes back in better shape that Al?
And yes I think a year of college or more might have been a good thing for Perk or Al.

Bro, must we constantly remind you that Jefferson was injured last year, which caused him to miss games and to play with less ability. Not much you can do when you are on the bench in street clothes because of 2 ankle injuries.
