I am hoping it will be Pitts... Jones brings something we really need and that is defense, rebounding and shot blocking. Pitts can shoot from the outside but I haven't heard anything about his ability to rebound or play defense. FLC'sfan12 *********** "(In truth, most teams that say they want to run end up being halfcourt teams, for a variety of reasons, from lack of rebounding to lack of commitment to the running game." Peter May **************** Doc (and Danny) have to decide if they really want to run, or if they want a penetrating point guard to drive and dish. I'm afraid it's the latter and that is why Pittsnoggle was brought in and Jones is being shunted aside.

I think the lack of commitment from all the players to run will be the determining factor if we end up not being a running team. For 2 years now, this has been our dilemma. This has to change, and whoeve does not run should be fined or released.

That should be the easiest thing to fix. You just play the guys who run and don't play the guys that don't. If you can't find 5 guys that run try to trade the laziest ones or see if you can waive someone. I thnk a couple of the guys can be waived. I guarantee you if you went to Pitts, Ray, and Powe, and said "if you want to play more than a year in the league you should run or we'll drop you in two weeks" they would. That's three runners. Just need two more. D Jones might be in a similar situation.

This has to change, and whoeve does not run should be fined or released. If I were the coach and my players weren't running, it's absolute necessary for the coach to bench them. Then, if that doesn't solve the problem then you go to other extreme measures i.e. being released. You can't fine someone because they aren't running alot on the court. That's how you lose players trust by making dumb fines like that. Owners have no business coaching players, let the coaches deal with it and if he doesn't deal with it then maybe its nnot the player whose responsible for not implementing the running system. Of course Powe, Ray, and Pitts are going to follow all rules of the game. They don't exactly have guarantee contracts on their hands.

The problem won't be with the rookies......... Remember when Doc benched Pierce in the fall of 2004? It was for not running the wing/finishing the play. Anyone remember Paul actually running the wing, even after the benching?

No, and that was a comment I posted a couple of weeks ago. I can count on one hand how many times I've seen Pierce run a break without the ball last season, and count on one finger how many times he's actually finished a break after being a trailer (not going coast to coast with the ball).
If he doesn't run, Doc needs to set the precedence again and sit him to show how serious he is about the commitment to run the ball. No one is exempt from running hard.
Imagine how the Showtime Lakers would have found any type of success if James Worthy, Michael Cooper, Byron Scott and Kurt Rambis didn't run hard with Magic. Whenever Magic would get the ball on a fastbreak, he would have 3 ~ 4 guys running hard with him, giving him a multitude of options to choose from.
That needs to be our motto as well.
