42 Tony Allen G 6-4 213 01/11/1982 Oklahoma State 2
Tony Allen needs to put his legal episode behind him and get back to being a spark plug off the bench. He brings a ton of energy to the table and I feel is best suited off the bench.
4 Ryan Gomes F 6-7 250 09/01/1982 Providence 1
Smart, Steady, Reliable, and Hardworking. This guy could start or come off the bench.
Brian Grant F 6-9 254 03/05/1972 Xavier (Ohio) 12
If he can still play, he is more than welcome. My guess is he is done.
5 Gerald Green F 6-8 200 01/26/1986 Gulf Shores Academy (TX) 1
This kid is our future and Danny did the right thing by keeping him instead of trading for the question mark.
7 Al Jefferson F 6-10 265 01/04/1985 Prentiss HS (MS) 2
This kid is worrying me a lot. There seems to be underlying medical issues with his ankle that could limit his once promising career. Dear God I hope I am completely wrong.
27 Dwayne Jones F-C 6-11 250 06/09/1983 Saint Joseph's 1
Don't really know much about the kid except he is a more athletic version of Greg Kite.
41 Michael Olowokandi (FA) C 7-0 270 04/03/1975 U. of Pacific 8
Europe is thataway, partner.
43 Kendrick Perkins C 6-10 280 11/10/1984 Clifton J. Ozen HS (TX) 3
This will be a huge year for Kendrick as he strives to define himself in the Association. He is a solid citizen and I think a leader on this young team. Being his 4th season with the Celtics makes him, I believe the 2nd longest tenured player behind Paul Pierce.
34 Paul Pierce - C F-G 6-6 230 10/13/1977 Kansas 8
Our biggest star since Larry Bird walked through the door. He could have forced Danny to trade him but his signing a three year extension with the Celtics is the best sign this team will emerge and compete seriously in the playoffs real soon.
51 Kevin Pittsnogle C 6-11 250 07/30/1984 West Virginia R
Don't know too much about this kid except he might back up Brian Scalabrine to open the season. My guess is he is shorttimer.
0 Leon Powe F 6-8 240 01/22/1984 California R
Appears to be a nice value at #45 but he is the West coast version of Ryan Gomes. Nothing wrong with that.
50 Theo Ratliff C-F 6-10 235 04/17/1973 Wyoming 11
Finally, a veteran big who can still play, provided he is healthy
12 Allan Ray G 6-2 190 06/17/1984 Villanova R
undrafted FA who shoots the ball. I don't if he can do anything else.
9 Rajon Rondo G 6-1 171 02/22/1986 Kentucky R
Danny had designs on this guy and based on what little I saw of the SL, I can see why. This guy seems to make Marcus Banks look slow. It will take time, but I think Rajon will end up a keeper.
44 Brian Scalabrine F 6-9 235 03/18/1978 USC 5
Scrubby is who he is and will find a role and help out about a dozen times. Perhaps, he will be the difference between the Celtics going to the post-season in 07 or back to the Oden lottery
55 Wally Szczerbiak F 6-7 244 03/05/1977 Miami (Ohio) 7
A fine player but his knees have to hold up.
30 Sebastian Telfair G 6-0 160 06/09/1985 Abraham Lincoln HS (Brooklyn, NY) 2
Intriguing that Danny Ainge brought this kid in with the 7th pick.
13 Delonte West G 6-4 180 07/26/1983 Saint Joseph's 2
Another dependable player who will be at the 2 spot. I like Delonte West.
My Projected Rotation
Bassy, Rondo, Allan Ray
West, Allen, Gerald Green
Pierce, Sczczerbiak, Powe
Gomes, Jefferson, Scrubby, Brian Grant
Perkins, Ratliffe, Dwayne Jones, Pittsnoogle.
There seems to be a lot of material for Doc Rivers to work with but the war of attrition does not appear to favor the 2007 Celtics at this time.
The SG and SF spots are excellent. The PG has a lot of Potential.
Bigs are questionable. Can Perkins and Jefferson emerge as a legitimate Big Man Battery? Can Jefferson stay off the IR?
I guess right now this team has an outside shot at the playoffs which will not meet the ownership's bottom line.
