As I look around I am begnning to have new hope for the future cause I think we have a really good chance of being one of the worst teams in the league this year. There are almost no teams I think that have a worse looking depth chart than us.
the Knicks don't look that bad when you look at them on paper, but they are so bad it makes me sick. I don't think they could beat Oak Hill Academy at this point
Golden State memphis Minn NJ Philly Wash and that's it
even then some of these teams have hope. Washington has Blatche on the way for example. NJ is bad but they drafted two bigs and still have wing talent just as good as us. memphis could surprise. Minn has Foye. I think almost every other team in the league has a better situation than us. Now that we have good wings and pgs we can finally focus on bigs. That's all I want them to draft for the next 7 years.

Ok so i was thinking at like 2am the other nite and I realized that our depth chart is terrible for the next season or two or three, but the best trade is definitely the one we didn't make in this case. This is what we have to hope for. we don't have any other choice.
Perk = Duncan when he was just about to start his sophomore year of Wake Forest GG = Lebron when he was a high school freshmen Rondo = Tony Parker two years before he became good Al J = Since there has never been a good pf who wasn't nasty I think he is maybe a young Kenny Thomas. Telfair = maybe he can be the next Mike james. Gomes = Kevin Mchale, but shorter, only 95% as tough, or 80% as good as Marion. Somebody totally underrated his entire career who plays with a chip on his shoulder. maybe 90% of what Toine could have been if he had stopped doing stupid stuff. Gomes is that guy at the gym nobody thinks is best but always always his team wins and stays on the court and eventually begrudgingly over time everyone wants to be on his team. TA = young Michael Cooper West = young Mark Price
That is a damn good roster, only it took 3 years to put together and will take another 5 to come to fruition. I'm not sure anyone has that kind of patience. Ultimately there are 4 players that really really really shouldn't be traded.
Perk looks like he can be one of the top 3 centers in the east in 2 years, but will take 5 years to be one of the 5 best in the league. GG could take 2 years or 4. look at what happened with Kobe. his first year was like 7.5 ppg, his second was like 17.5, then he became the kobe we know. It could be like that. Rondo. From all accounts he is the steal of the draft. Seems to have something that can't be taught. Gomes, could become the greatest swing forward/6th man that ever lived. Keep in mind this last year should in theory be the worst of his career.
This is why I don't like drafting high schoolers. It takes forever to get anywhere. This is why I like what Charlotte did. They drafted all proven college stars. Emeka, Adam M, Sean M, Felton. It will take them way less time to know what they have. But we weren't drafting in the top 3 like them and this is what we have now.
What will be really interesting is what happens in the draft and lottery, cause I think we will be drafting high and will have temptingly bad decisions to make. i would really really like to see a move made to get to like the 2nd pick and get someone like Durant. Like our pick, Wally, Telfair, and Al J for a top two or 3. That's more than fair. Maybe we can even get a 2nd back. But i think we should be agressive. It's like poker. Now when to hold em and fold em. If we are picking late in the draft Nick Fazekas won't cut it. In that case trade the pick for future picks. We are set at every position for the next 4 years except big man. If we can't pick a big who can compete with Perk and Al (and for Al he will be competing for a career with the Celts) there is no point. It has to be someone who could possibly make it worthwhile to not resign an AL J or trade him away for 75 cents on the dollar. Sometimes you just gotta cut someone even if they're good. that's how the Patriots got good.
