The Utah Jazz have something we need: frontcourt depth. They have 3 players who I would want Ainge to make an effort to pry away.
Rafael Araujo, 6'11", 280 lbs. I was a fan of this guy while he was at BYU, and he was on my lwishist in the '04 draft. He was a flop over in Toronto for his first 2 years. I think its more a case of being misused and not being given a chance to play. They seemed to want to be quick and agile in the frontcourt, and though Araujo is not a slug, he's no Chris Bosh. Now that he's in Utah, I think we'll see him rise to a higher level. He's a true big man in size (height and bulk), but he's got good mobility and a soft touch, even from midrange. Plus, he's also a good passer. He reminds me of Brad Miller. Got to see him in a Rocky Mountain summer league game and I liked what I saw; he's lost some weight and seems a lot happier.
Carlos Boozer, 6'9", 260 lbs. Eh, you guys already know about him. Good player who scores inside and out. Solid rebounder. Active body. Good athleticism and running ability. Would be a good addition to the team.
Paul Milsap, 6'8", 260 lbs. A three time rebounding champ in college and a pretty solid scorer. He's also a guy who I had my eye on. Got to see him in the Rocly Mountain summer league. Very good body and very good athleticism for a big man. He may not have the prototypical height for a PF, but he's wide enough, has a long wing span and he's strong enough to play the position. He's got good moves around the rim, including drop steps and spin moves, while on the run, and he's an incredible rebounder. I would really like this guy on our team.
Utah did really well in the draft actually. This year, they were able to nab Ronnie Brewer, Dee Brown (who also looked good in summer league) and Paul Milsap. In addition, they got Rafael Araujo. I think they did really well to improve their future.
