Random thoughts flowed through my mind as I'm sitting here at work.
1) it would be a perfect fit for us if we could make a deal with the Charlotte Bobcats to get either Gerald Wallace or Emeka Okafor. Okafor will be a very solid big man for the next decade. In his 2 years as a pro, he's averaged better than 10 rpg and will soon be a 3 bpg guy. As we are currently looking to add more depth and talent to our frontcourt, he would be a big piece to add.
Gerald Wallace would be a perfect fit for us. He's a ball thief, extremely athletic and aggressive, loves the open court, loves to run, is a slasher, and he works well with PG's (has played well with Bibby and Brevin Knight/Raymond Felton).
Getting either of these guys will improve our team right off the bat because they have experience.
2) Gerald Green is a talented offensive player and his ceiling is pretty high. He can score in a myriad of ways and look pretty smooth in whatever he does. What he needs to concentrate on is developing a go-to move. Pierce has a step back jumper. Jordan had his fadeaway. Iverson has his quick pull up jumper. Gerald needs to develop a move he can always call upon to get off a shot.

GG shot like 55% on 3s this summer. I agree on Emeka and Wallace. I think it would take a lot to get either one. Id rather have them than nearly anyone we have mentioned so far and I think Charlotte feels the same. maybe cause they have Morrison they'd give us Wallace, but it would cost at least a pg guy like West and a young swing like TA and a young big like Powe, but that wouldn't get it done. We'd have to give more in one way or another.
i hope we can showcase Powe and he does real well cause it could make trading a lot easier. Same with Telfair and D Jones and TA. and hopefully TA beats the system.

More random thoughts.
Summer league is a good time to try players at different positions you want to try to get them to play. You don't do it in training camp, and certainly not in preseason.
Looking at where our brass played Jefferson and Gomes, and hearing what Doc said during his summer league telecast, we may be looking at Jefferson starting at Center and Gomes at PF. Doc says that we are not a big team, nor will we ever be a big team. So rather than trying, we are going to use our strengths and play small ball. Putting a 6'10" PF at Center, and using a 6'7" guy at PF is definitely going small.
Gomes can play the PF spot, which is his natural position. But he's undersized so he'll lose out on some rebounds (which becomes a big factor it crunch time). Jefferson is currently lagging on defense, so I'm not sure how well he'll play defense against Centers.
Can this frontcourt hold up and do the job?

More random thoughts. Can this frontcourt hold up and do the job? Hopefully Perk and Al can get some serious time this year and we can guage if they are gonna be the real deal or not. If those two can develop into an above average frontcourt I would be ecstatic. We would dominate the boards if those two are on the court together for the long haul.

I agree. If they both develop (and there's a better chance now that Clifford Ray is here), we can have 2 dynamic rebounders in the frontcourt.
What gets me thinking is the comment Doc made on numerous occasions last season, about putting Jefferson and Perkins together on the floor crowds the paint--which is why I think he relied on Raef so much. Will he change his view on this and attempt to play this combination more frequently, and try to develop their chemistry together and groom them for our future?

Other random thoughts.
Tony Allen came on strong at the end of last season, after having a lot of his strength in his surgically repaired knee return. He still wasn't able to explode off of his repaired leg like he normally would, but he looked absolutely fantastic cutting to the basket aggressively and attacking from a lot of different angles.
He's been a forgotten man this offseason, and a lot of folks, myself included, have sort of brushed him off as a part of our future, when in actuality, he may be a vital part of our core. Next to Gerald Green, he may have the most talent and ability of the wing players we have on our roster.
If he continues to improve his game, especially his jump shot and his ball handling, he may be entitled to a shot at the starting spot in a few years.
Imagine a backcourt and wing combination of Rajon Rondo at the 1, Tony Allen at the 2 and Gerald Green at the 3. 3 extremely athletic specimen who have exciting abilities and basketball skills. They will force a tremendous amount of turnovers and we will have countless amounts of fastbreak opportunities and highlight reel dunkls. Rondo and Allen especially are extremely sticky defenders who are long, quick and hard to get past. They have a knack at poking away balls and passes. This trio can suffocate the perimeter and funnel the plays to the middle, where hopefully we will have a big time shot blocker waiting to devour the poor soul.

Jefferson or Perk need to develop a jumpshot so the opponents can't back-down on them giving our opponents two-big men to crash the boards. That's why you saw last year some occasions where Al is on top of the key. Doc is trying to create spacing for Pierce or Allen to make a move towards the hoop. It's a decent idea if Jefferson had any range but when you know you're man can only score 8 feet from the hoop its a huge advantage on defense.
