In actuality, we really only need an 8 - 9 player rotation:
5 starters -1 combo guard who can play the 1 and 2 -1 wing player who can cover the 2 and 3 -2 solid big men
Most playoff teams go only this deep in their rotation. You want to get the players in a routine so they know when they are going to the bench (starters), when they are coming in (bench guys) and what will be asked of them when they are on the court. Having a rotation of 12 players makes playing time chaotic. Many guys will only get 5 minutes of playing time, and its hard to know your role and execute your role when you only have a couple of minutes on the court each time you sub in.
So Ainge's goal should be to assemble the best 9 man rotation he can. It should contain:
-2 star level players (preferably at the 1 and at the 4/5) -a top 5 rebounder or a top 5 assist man -players who are decisive scorers -players with a defensive mentality

Right now, the team lacks the bigs. Granted, Perks, AJ, Gomes. But these folks are role players, not starters (until AJ proves himself, he is role player).

Doc favors , I think, a 9-man rotation. I hope he doesn't get it too short too quick. Gomes, for example, got locked out of the rotation u ntil injuries opened it up for him. With such a young team, the problem is which 9. And without some short play, how will we know if some of these kids have anything to offer.
PLUS, some of th ese guys bring different strengths. Which can be utilized as needed in game-by-game situations.

Starters: C- Perkins PF - ? SF - Wally SG - Pierce PG - Telfair
Bench Combo - West Solid Big Man - Jefferson Solid Big Man - Gomes Wing player - Green
That's the way I see it. We need a starting PF and right now we don't have someone who can flat out say He's starter material.
Ainge needs address that if this team wants to get where they want to go.

Unfortunetly, AJ would be the starting PF, but he took the easy way out, declared early. Granted, he could have worked hard, but choose the status quo.

In actuality, we really only need an 8 - 9 player rotation: 5 starters -1 combo guard who can play the 1 and 2 -1 wing player who can cover the 2 and 3 -2 solid big men Well, if it will be a 9 man rotation similar to this, I can see it looking something like this when everybody healthy and if keeping this roster as is: Starters: 5-Perkins 4-Gomes 3-Wally 2-Pierce 1-Telfair Combo Guard - Delonte Wing Player - Gerald Green/Tony Allen Big men - Theo Ratliff and Big Al Obviously, these players can be interchangeable. Although, with the depth that we have I think that we will see different combination for different players. For instance, when playing Chicago, I think that we will see a lot of Telfair and Delonte in the backcourt, or Rondo and Delonte. Some games we may see Theo and Perk in their together for defensive purposes. Some games Allen will be the off the bench defender who guards the other teams top scorer. I think we will mix and match, but for the most part it will look something like this: Starters: 5-Perk 4-Gomes 3-Wally 2-Pierce 1-Telfair Bench: 6-Delonte (sixth man) 7-Big Al (first big off bench, backup to Gomes) 8-Theo - backup to Perk) 9-Gerald Green (scorer off bench ala Ricky Davis) 10-T Allen (Shut down defender off bench) 11-Ray (shooter/scorer off bench) 12-Powe (backup big) I see the top 10 getting the most playing time. Rondo and Powe I see in the beginning maybe going to the D-league and dominating for the time being.
