Pierce to mend after signing

{Excerpt-
“I put my trust,” Pierce said, “in Danny (Ainge) and Doc and the owners that they’re really hungry for winning and they want to win a championship, I think, just as bad as I do. I just trust that we’ll get a team out there that will be competing within the next five years and give us that opportunity.”
“I think it validates for our players that Paul Pierce likes what we’re doing,” Rivers said. “I’m so tired of all these guys around the league saying, ‘I want to win. I want to go to a championship team.’ If they’re that good, stay in their place and make it a championship team. Paul, by what he’s doing, is saying, ‘I’m willing to take that chance.’ ”
Former Celtic Antoine Walker urged Pierce to explore leaving Boston to win a title as he did with the Heat last season, but Pierce said he didn’t pay any attention to his friend.
“I make my own decisions,” Pierce said.}
“I put my trust,” Pierce said, “in Danny (Ainge)...."
Did anyone else choke on this? Danny: "The Snake?" Could Pierce's injury be more serious than he's letting on and he wanted to sign quickly, before the local doctors got to look at it? Where I come from its: "In God we trust, all others pay cash."
