Some of you have seen the Raptors and Neggets summer league games. Some of you may have watched a few Villanove games during the past 4 years.
I'm interested in hearing what you think of Allan Ray. Does he have enough game to make the team? Is he good enough to have a role on the team? Strengths? Weaknesses?
He went undrafted after having a stellar college career (for most of his time at Villanova, he was more highly regarded than Randy Foye). Could he be a better fit for our team than Orien Greene--another guy who was on the verge of slipping out of the draft (in '05)?

I am watching the Denver game now and the announcers are gushing about him. They really like him. He looks pretty good. He is a great shooter and will be instant offense off the bench and he is pretty quick and able to get the ball to the open man when he is doubled. I think he will be a Vinnie Johnson type microwave player off the bench. He needs to get stronger because he can be over powered by bigger players. He hustles but doesn't have the size to stop bigger players. All in all, I like him.

I think he could be a solid player off the bench. An instant scorer/shooter type. Won't really give you much else but score. A lot like Juan Dixon, but a better shooter.
He 'll probably put up a decent amount of 10-15 point, 1 reb, 1 steal 1 asst games if he makes the Celts and gets playing time.
I say he makes the team.

I think Allan Ray can be an exceptional player off the bench if he comes in with the mentality to score. When he comes in, he shouldn't try to run the team or be an unselfish passer. His shooting ability needs to be put to the best use. Use him as a catch and shoot guy off the curl. Or when we have fast breaks, he needs to make a dash for the corner and wait for the pass.
Ray has a very good shooting stroke, pretty consistent form. He's very good when he gets in a rhythm. His ball goes through the hoop pretty true because he puts good arc on his shots.
His best chance to make a niche for himself on our team is by perfecting moving without the ball and utilizing his catch and shoot ability.

I dont see where his minutes will come from. He is currently 6th on our guard depth, 7th if you include Green as a guard. Unless a trade happens(or injuries), this guy is gonna be a dnp-cd machine.

I expect Danny to make a trade... He signed Powe and Ray when we really didn't need them and at Pierce's press conference he made reference to some winners and losers and that we don't have the minutes to develop all of our young kids. He may send a couple to the D League if the trade doesn't go down before the season starts but I am pretty sure he is bringing in those players to replace some he is moving because of their trade value.
