Iverson showed up 50 minutes late for his own press conference. While they were waiting for him to show up Dee Lynum said that the Boston deal is dead and the only way that it could be revived is if Danny offers Pierce. She said that she has that directly from King. He wants to be a Sixer and he has said that from day 1 but if he isn't wanted there then he doesn't want to be there. He said he tries to stay positive but it's a business. He knows he has value but they didn't make the playoffs and feel like they have to do something. Billy King has to do his job and if his name comes up, than it comes up and that's nothing new. It is something he has to deal with. He pointed out that he and CWebb were the highest scoring duo in league last season but they need a better surrounding cast..... He said that they need guys around them that give 110%. Sometimes he thinks that leaving wouldn't be so bad because then he and his family won't have to deal with this every summer. He doesn't have a good relationship with his teammates. Here is an image of AI from his press conference.... He definitely won't make a lot of friends in Boston by wearing a Yankees hat...

That is good news if its true. I hope the trade talks for Iverson are dead. I don't want to give up Gerald or Jefferson to get an aging Iverson who probably has only a handful of years playing at his usual standard (which is actually very high).
I say roll the dice with the players we have now. And if doesn't seem like its going to work, make some moves next summer to get us a chance to land Greg Oden.

If we want a chance at Oden, we'll have to make some moves at mid-season. We'd have to get someone's unprotected 1st(which is very hard to do), or trade Pierce and go into tank mode. These will be the only ways to get Oden, because no team in their right mind will trade the #1 pick next year.

I'm pretty sure when its all said and done. Greg Oden will not be in Boston. Unless, we end having the worst record in the NBA.

Look, we had the worst record in the league during the 96-97 season at 15-67 and had an over 40% chance to get Tim Duncan.
That failed miserably.
Portland with the worst record in the league this past season drafted 4th.
Other teams will not trade their top pick protected draft choice to any NBA team let alone Boston.
And tanking is not an option for Boston in 2007. They have to forge ahead with who they have and rely on Perkins work ethic to stand up to Oden.

Jeepers flceltfan, that is a gruesome looking picture if that is indeed the question mark cowardly hiding behind the Y----- cap and shades.
Alan Iverson will not be walking through that door, Thank God.

Now that I think about it you are totally right about unprotected picks. Also I don't really think Iverson is as good as people think cause he doesn't really shoot that well. 42% when you demand the ball like 30 times a game hurts your team a lot.

Iverson is a good shooter, but his FG% is so low because of the degree of difficulty in the shots he takes. If he can learn to minimize his bad shot attempts, his FG% should be in the upper 40's, which in this day and age of basketball, is pretty good.
