Welcome aboard, TxcsFan.
In the news this morning (from a Philly source, I guess), it was mentioned that Ainge offered Wally, Gerald, and some leftovers, which had me a bit worried. Seems like he doesn't mind giving up Gerald to get Iverson. Either he thinks he can find another wing player with high upside in the future drafts, or he doesn't think as highly of Gerald as some of us do.
Either way, it may be a blessing in disguise that Billy King does not want to make the trade for those players Ainge offered.

Well, if you get AI and you have paul pierce at the sf spot, where is Gerald Green going to see any minutes?
Seriously, AI and Pierce will be demanding 40+ mins per game leaving possibly 16 minutes at the 2/3 spots. Not to mention you have west, Allen, and Gomes on the roster. So, in essence Green will be seeing absolutely no minutes. Atleast with Wally in Boston, Green has a chance to become a 6th man off the bench type player.
If Ainge can't get iverson, I think he'll look elsewhere for help. Unless Pierce believe these kids can take them to the next level or he knows something is going to happen over the summer thus, signing the extension.

JHVOS, I'm looking down the line, when Iverson is 35 ~ 36 years old. Gerald will be about 26 ~ 27 years old and he could possibly be one of the top wing player in the east. That is something I don't want to risk.

The rumor off the Philadelphia papers that got quite a bit of play in local LA radio was Livingston and Maggette for Iverson. The local radio hosts on espn radio were very much in favor of this trade for the Clippers. I hope either that, the Denver rumor, or the eight team trade rumor but all the AI talk to rest. With the promise our young players show, plus the chemistry that quickly developed between Wally and Pierce, prior to the injuries, I would love to see how our current roster progresses before shipping anyone out.

Yep, that's how I feel about it too, Mev. I would like to see how far we can go with the players we have now. For all we know, in 3 ~ 4 years, we may be able to go just as far, if not farther with the team we have now versus the team we'd have if the Iverson trade went down. For one thing, we'd have a much deeper team and that counts for a lot.

As I said in my article on Loy's blog... It seems that when a team trades young talent for a veteran to win now instead of down the road the young players end up being stars and making them pay long after the veteran is out of the league. I want to see what this team can do with 2 pure points leading the way. I don't want a trade unless it is Scal and Jones for an established big who can play. I still think Jones has promise but he doesn't seem to be in our plans since he isn't even getting summer league playing time.

Right. We haven't had true PG's running the show for a long while now. And now we have 2. This should help curb our TO's down significantly (I hope), which has been a big problem for us the past few years. And another problem of ours is getting easy transition points. We were a team who couldn't utilize the fastbreaks. But now, we have the PG's who can facilitate the uptempo brand of basketball. And this is especially the reason why we should keep Gerald Green--he will help maximize the fastbreaks. Every arena we go to, whenever a fastbreak comes up, every fan will stand up in his seat to watch a potential SportsCenter highlight dunk from Green, courtesy of a nice set up by Telfair or Rajon.

Right. We haven't had true PG's running the show for a long while now. It hasnt been too long. Dont we all remember the Chucky Atkins show? The dude may have holes in his game, but the guy is a true PG. I do believe we had our best winning streak in 2004 right after we aquired him.

More like a scoring pg like Mike James is. Not to mention Atkins couldn't guard a chair.

I'll give you that one, Fresh. He is more of a true PG than Mike James. He's pretty underated. I thought he did pretty well here.

Yeah, I'd def say that Adkins was a true PG. Not a really good true PG, but a true PG nonetheless. Mark Blount should give a portion of his checks to adkins. Mark scored a lot of his points of the the pick and roll thanks to adkins.

Yep. It was after Chucky came here when Blount came alive and had big stats that eventually got him a big contract. Its not directly because of Atkins, but Chucky certainly did help.
