Change in team outlook: +9.8 ppg, -0.1 rpg, and +6.7 apg.
From the Boston perspective:
Pierce is unhappy that the trade prospects for the Question Mark fell through. Scrubby is who he is and frankly Boston would do well to get rid of his contract. Dale Davis is the vetaran big who can do a world of good for next year as Boston returns to the playoffs and a possible berth in the ECF and a longshot to return to the NBA Finals for the 1st time in 20 years.
From the Detriot perspective: Things will blow up badly now that they have lost Big Ben. Chauncey Billups, like Pierce can and will opt out next year if things stay the way they are in Detriot. Hamilton is a tough scorer but not at Pierces level. Boston will have to donate their draft pick to equal out the talent lost in Detriot.
This is my original trade idea that deserves careful consideration on both sides.
Billups/Telfair/Rondo
Hamilton/West/Tony Allen
Sczerbiak/Gomes
Davis/Jefferson/Powe
Ratliffe/Perkins
What do you think?
Successful Scenario
Due to Detroit and Boston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Detroit and Boston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
