Some writer/tv host mentioned that Telfair is not going to remain with the team, but was acquired to be included in the possible Iverson trade. At first I thought that this was the plan.
But now, I'm under the impression that he's here to stay.
The reason I now feel this way is because I really do think that Ainge and Rivers wants to 1) get this team running uptempo more, especially the fastbreaks, 2) cut down our turnovers by putting the ball in the hands of playmaking PG's so that Pierce, Tony Allen, and our big men won't have to do much of the passing. Finally, 3), Ainge and Rivers want to utilize the new rules that allow quick guards to take advantage of their speed.
Of course, Iverson could also fill these needs as well. But Telfair is a lot more of a passing PG who looks for his teammates, and all along, this is what our brass wanted from all the guys on the court.
With Iverson, we'll have a big time 1-2 scoring punch with him and Pierce. But if Telfair lives up to his billing as a terrific playmaking PG, we'll have a more diverse offensive attack, and this could be the optimal way of playing.

Telfair stays if Philly do not want to trade AI to Boston. Otherwise, if they're asking for Telfair then you must add him to the deal. Its not like Telfair is a deal breaker to get AI. If we get iverson there isn't any need to have Bassy. Basically, Telfair is a extremely water-down version of AI without the shooting ability.
I think if AI wants to come to Boston and Boston has the best offer on the market (rumored to be Green, Jefferson and Telfair) then a trade must be made in order to get close to the ultimate goal which is to win an nba championship.

The reasoning I'm coming up with is that we did not acquire Telfair to trade him to Philly for Iverson. I'm thinking Telfair's signing is an isolated affair.
There's only 2 ways to look at it--he was either brought in to be a trade piece in the Iverson deal, or Ainge really wanted him (he used the 7th overall pick to essentially grab him).
