At what point do we consider Sebastian Telfair our starting PG (or is he already ahead of Delonte in the battle)?

When I see him starting in his first game in the regular season, thats when we should consider him as a starter.

I'm sure it'll be settled during the pre-season. THis time of year, its all speculation. Heck, I still think I have a chance to make the roster. Ive sent Ainge a lot of naked pictures (So he can see my commitment to physical training) in the last few weeks, and so far Ive heard nothing. My guess is that they are too busy to call b/c they are working a contract to offer me.

;D ;D ;D I hope the photos you sent showed that you tape your ankles. That might be a good selling point.
A strong summer league could place Sebastian head to head with Delonte. But training camp is where the battle will really begin. I think some fans are ready to slot Telfair in the starting lineup already. I'm very close, but I'd like to see the 3 summer league games first.

I think w/ every new PG the team gets, the player has been crowned the starter, only to fall very short. I think training camp w/ determine the outcome.

On NE Sports tonight, Russillo said that the Celts acquired Telfair on draft day specifically to trade to Philly for Iverson but they can't do the trade till August 28 because of the CBA.... Not sure how much I believe that but Danny may only be getting us excited about Telfair only to trade him for Iverson.
Or maybe Danny will like what he sees from Telfair so much in summer league that he will call off the trade and save a ton of bucks, not to mention all the headaches that Iverson and his attitude will bring, and go with Telfair for this year.

I think w/ every new PG the team gets, the player has been crowned the starter, only to fall very short. I think training camp w/ determine the outcome. Exactly. Last year I fell victim to crowning Dickau starter just because he was more of a true point guard than Delonte. Telfair is a WAY better player than Dickau but I will still not make the same mistake twice. I expect Telfair to be the starter at point guard just because the coaching staff and Danny are so intent on running, Telfair has to be the guy to do it. Delonte is not a true point obviously and Rondo is just a rook. I expect Delonte to play much more 2 guard and be even more successful at that than he was at point guard. He can light it up from anywhere and is just a smart ballplayer. It just seems as if Danny has formed together a team of just very smart, fundamentally sound ballplayers with Delonte, Wally, Gomes, Telfair, etc. But every year we are all positive about the upcoming season. I just hope that this is the year that we REALLY see the improvement start to take shape.

And we still don't know how many and who Danny plans to ship out for the veteran all star he feels we need.... whichever one that may be.

I originally had the thought that Telfair was only here as a trading piece in the Iverson deal. But then it started to seem like Ainge and Rivers really want him here.
All in all, I think he will stay here and I think the Iverson trade won't go down. And if he is still on the team by training camp, I'll say that he will be our starting PG.

If someone said to me "here is one guy that sort of wore out his welcome on the team that drafted him and he's in the summer league team, and here is a guy that is good that exceeded all expectations and isn't on the summer league team, now guess which one is the starter" I know which one I'd choose.

I dont think he wore out his welcome in Portland. Both Cheeks and McMillian had nothing but good things to say about him. I think they were high on Brandon Roy.

Well aparently they didn't hate Jarrett Jack or Steve Blake either since they both beat him out. I kinda think they made the wrong decision. I can't really trust any team that pays Darius Miles money to play bball

I wouldn't be disapointed Telfair is not the starting PG at the start of the season, but I would be disapointed if he isn' the starting PG at the end of the season. Gold opportunity for him.

I won't be disappointed if Rondo beats him out since he is cheaper and his contract runs longer.
