I'm sure Antoine Walker is ragging on Pierce to leave Boston for greener pastures. It probably won't take much talking to convince Pierce that his window of opportunity is not as big as it once was. Pierce realizes that we are a team trying to develop our youth, and unless we make a big trade for an All-Star, we aren't going to be going to the Finals in the next couple of seasons (probably longer).
Ainge is trying to bring in Iverson, but that's just a quick fix and I don't feel that will bring us a ring. If we get Iverson, we are still missing solid depth and strong role players (because they will be traded away for Iverson) and these are things we were missing when Toine and Pierce ruled Boston. Same thing if we go after KG, Marion, or whoever. If we trade away a bunch of our young and talented players, we lose our supporting cast and without a strong bench, teams can only go so far.
So the situation becomes this; if Ainge realizes that trading away our young talent is suicide for our future, and he doesn't pull the trigger on any trade that involves our young stars in the making (Jefferson and Gerald), will Pierce remain happy being in Boston longterm?
If Ainge doesn't think so, he could turn his attention to seeing what he can get for Pierce.
And Pierce is a double-whammy. He's a star player in his prime and he has a short contract.

Ughhh....
Pierce's comments have me thinking he won't be a Celtic by the time the season starts.

Right. Its starting to sound like he's looking at other alternatives. Either that, or he's trying to force Ainge's hand into making a trade for Iverson, or some other All-Star.

Pierce can get us atleast two solid starters in return or a water-down version of himself i.e. Rashard Lewis, Marion, or Maggette.

Water down version? ;D I don't think I'd call Shawn Marion a watered down version of Pierce. I actually think he'd be a terrific addition to our uptempo style of basketball. He's one of the most versatile players out there. Not as superb a one on one player as Pierce, but he's a terrific scorer in an uptempo offense because he's really good at finishing near the rim and he likes to run.
I don't care all that much for Rashard Lewis, and unless we get Shaun Livingston and Chris Kaman included in the deal, I'd rather not trade for Cory Maggette.
But for Marion, if another solid player is included, I'd be tempted to trade for him. If you look at his stats, you'd see that he doesn't get nearly as much attention as he ought to be getting. Last year he averaged 21.8 ppg, 11.8 rpg, 2 spg, and 1.7 bpg. Plus he shoots at a very good clip (52.5 FG%, 84.7 FT%). He's a terrific rebounder because of how quickly he can sky for rebounds, and he's a pesky defender because of how long he is and how quickly he moves his feet.
I certainly think he'd be a better fit into our existing team than Iverson.

I don't know. Iverson will not get us a ring. We have enough guard play. We need someone to step up at the power forward position so that we can have that inside presence. We have presence on defense with Perk and Theo. We need presence down low on the offensive end.
It is a make or break year for Big Al to shine I believe. It's now or never. If Big Al can give us 15 and 8 from down low, we're good. If not, we may see Ainge try and get a big-time power forward. I think this Iverson talk is a smokescreen.

Antoine should take the 'high-road' in life. He was carried by D-Wade, and company.
I like Marion.

My question. What could we get for PP, if he wants out? We are a young team and won games without him. Is it time to move on and build a new era? One player does not make a team.
That is, if Pierce wants to move on. I have yet to hear it, other than on fan chat boards. hmmmm

I am sure we would receive more than $.50 on a dollar that Toronto received on the V Carter fiasco.
