We hear that he's interested in Iverson, for the right price. He was also said to be interested in Shawn Marion or Richard Jefferson (only slightly interested in Jermaine O'Neal). Maybe if we don't land Iverson, we could see Ainge focus his attention to those 2 guys.
But so far, we haven't heard of Ainge being interested in bringing in any big men. No interest at all. Is he being naively optimistic about our bigs? Consider that we just lost our starting PF from last year, and a guy who has been a big part of our big man rotation the past 2 seasons (Raef LaFrentz). Not only that, but Perkins' shoulder could pop out again with a hard jolt while he's in an awkward position. To make matters worse, Theo Ratliff is our only veteran big man who will probably be relied on heavily in our rotation, and he's been injury prone the last few seasons.
If any of our bigs get injured (Jefferson, Perk, Theo), we are in trouble with a capital T.
So why hasn't there been any interest in obtaining a quality big man, even for insurance purposes?
Tyson Chandler is on his way to New Orleans in exchange for PJ Brown. PJ is not a star big man, but he's solid enough to be a terrific contributor off the bench. So why couldn't we have made an attempt to swipe PJ Brown?
Ainge has been rather open of his offseason intentions, making it abundantly clear that he is going after Iverson. This isn't his normal tactic. He usually conceals his hand as much as he can, often denying what's on the table. Maybe the Iverson talk is just a smokescreen to decoy the real trade that is brewing.

The thing with PJ is, who do we use to match contracts? PJ makes around 8 mill. They obviously wouldnt want Wally after they signed Peja. Since they are trying to get younger, they def. wouldnt want a less talented overpaid version of Brown(Ratliff). That leaves Pierce.
IMO, our depth is fine. If either Perk or Theo get hurt, Jones can always use a few more minutes. If Al gets hurt, Gomes and scala will pick up the slack.

I like DJ and think he can be quite a serviceable big man. But I'm a bit scared if we have to plug him into the rotation or rely on him as the first big man off the bench. I don't think he's ready for a role that big yet. In time yes, I think Cliff Ray can make him into a really solid player. I like his quickness and agility for a 6'10" guy, and his quick leaping ability will help him out a lot. I think he just needs to learn better technique when defending post players.

Wilcox is available in Seattle through a sign and trade. I'm sure Fortson is also available. They seem overstocked in big men since they went out and drafted that Center from Senegal.

I sure hope DA signs Powe. Some article or speculation was that he wanted to check out the knee before signing him. For what he would have to pay a #2 choice, I'd say get it done, even if he has to spend more time just rehabbing. I'm sure that if he signs, a priority will be to work on conditioning and sewe what the condition of the knees are, and work on strengthening them.
Those were nice numbers he put up in a pretty good league.

Seattle has a trio of young Centers, and I'm thinking they may have to get rid of one of them. They now have Johan Petro, Robert Swift, and Saer Sene. I don't think they'll have the time to develop all 3. Maybe this is Ainge's opportunity to get Swift.
