As it now stands, we have 16 players on the roster:
Wing players 1 Pierce 2 Wally 3 Gerald 4 Tony
PG 5 Telfair 6 Delonte 7 Rondo
Big men 8 Jefferson 9 Perkins 10 Ratliff 11 Dwayne Jones 12 Gomes 13 Scalabrine 14 Leon Powe
*15 Olowokandi *16 Brian Grant
Most likely, we will not see Olowokandi and Grant on our team, leaving us with 14. That free roster spot may be given to Allen Ray, depending on the impression he leaves on Ainge during the summer league games. If you look at our big man depth, do you feel that we have adequate talent there to hold down the fort? Would that final roster spot be put to better use by bringing in another solid big man?
Looking at this roster, with more developmental time for the young guys, do you feel that this team can be a legitimate playoff team?
Which position needs help?

I think we need another solid big man.... We have wing players who can cover multiple spots. Tony can man the point if for some reason 2 of our 3 PGs are down. Gomes can play the 3 and so could be a wing/big and unless Scal loses some weight and works hard on his conditioning and game he isn't going to give us much. Ratliff has a history of bing injured and so I think we are weaker in the center. I would look to bring in another big.

I tend to see things that way too, FL. Looking at our depth, our 3 most prominent big men will be Jefferson, Perkins, and Ratliff. 2 of them are still really young and not as experienced as you'd want them to be and the other is 33 years old and constantly injured.
PJ Brown would be nice.

C- Perkins/Ratliff/Jefferson/Jones PF - Jefferson/Gomes/Powe/Scala SF- Wally/Green SG- Pierce/Allen PG - Telfair/West/Allen/Rondo
I think thats how our roster should be rotated as, Give or take between the PG and center positions.
If i had to add one more player it would probably be someone who can play multiple positions.

Unfortunately it looks like Chicago may get him too. They are going to be a very strong team this year. Paxon is pulling some Auerbachian type moves.
I found this on RealGM talking about a Portland game on the Larry Bird DVD.... Hopefully Clifford Ray will make a big difference in our bigs this year.... and maybe Powe will pan out. And maybe Ratliff will experience a rejuvenation similar to Walton's when he came here....
During the game, Mike Fratello, who was doing color commentary, started talking about Robert Parrish and what a great physical specimen he was, how he was rarely hurt, etc. Fratello then said that Parrish credited his training habits and career longevity to a former teammate of his when he was with Golden State.
That former teammate of the Chief's was Clifford Ray.

Right, many good things have been said about Clifford Ray. We all heard about how Dwight Howard was upset that he was leaving Orlando, and he credits Ray as being instrunmental in his rapid development. And like you just mentioned, Robert Parish also gives him kudos. So do Erick Dampier and some other big men who have made big strides.
And our own Al Jefferson changed his entire summer plan so that he can stay in Boston and work out with Ray. Apparently, he was seeing immediate results and believed in Ray's mentoring.
I can't wait to see the improvements in our big men. But I would still like to get a hold of another solid big man, just for insurance.
