Rather than getting Iverson, Ainge should concentrate his efforts into getting Shawn Marion. Marion, and not Iverson, will fit right into our system without having to change our entire offense. Plus Marion is a defensive stud and everyone agrees that we need better defense.
Iverson will cost us a pretty penny and I'm not interested in giving away our future star players.

Exactly, DM.
A Pierce-Marion combo at the 2/3 would give us the best rebounding wing combo in the NBA.
Iverson is not the answer. Marion is.

Maybe we can try and do a multi team trade, including a team that has cap room.

If we attempt to get Shawn Marion, Phoenix will ask for at a minumum Paul Pierce. We should consider the deal if we run into snags extending Pierce. To me it is a lateral swap of max players and Phoenix gets cap relief within 1 year possibly. We get Shaun Marion for three years, long enough for Gerald Green to develop. I suppose we could not do a Jefferson and Pierce for Diaw and Marion deal. That would be outstanding for the Celtics.
