Boy, you gotta watch how you spell his name, or else you may end up spelling it "Rat-fill" like I just did before correcting it ;D
What do you all think he'll do for us? Is he going to be a big man heavily used in the big man rotation, as in 20+ minutes as a backup? Will he be our starting Center?
If we don't make any trades for big men, he is going to be our only big man acquisition this summer (Ainge says he doesn't intend to pursue any free agents). Will a of rotation of Ratliff, Perk, Gomes, and Jefferson be enough to stabilize our frontcourt (rebounding + shot blocking)?

I think this means Jones may be thought of as having a shot.
Interested to see what happens with Powe. Who isn't on the list of summer league players.

Dwayne Jones is also in the mix for future considerations. But I think this year, he may be in the D-League for the early part of the season, at least. He and Leon Powe, probably.
I'm hoping Theo can have a resurgence this year and provide us with solid rebounding a needed shot blocking. That will go a long ways towards helping us take a step forward.

If Ratliff can still do what he has done for some years, it will be a sweet addition.
I keep forgetting that Scal. is in the mix. Roster will have to have IMHO 5 bigs. He probably will be the 5th. Unless Jones shows very strong in summer and pre-season.

When healthy, Ratliff can give you weak side shot blocking along with some good rebounding performance.
With that said, He's better suited as a back-up center so he'll be able to keep himself healthy.

Scalabrine is still on the roster (for now, but if Ainge is looking to make a trade(s), Scal is probably going to be included for salary reasons), but he'll be used less than he was last year. Gomes has moved ahead of him, and Ratliff will take minutes away from his as well.

The biggest factor which will affect PT is whether or not AJ comes back healthy, or sprains an ankle again.
I certainly don't follow Portland, but I had the impression that Ratliff had tailed off. Hope he is close to what he was. An intangible: he should be able to give some tips to Perk.

If Jones comes to camp ready to play, it could open trade options for DA. I want to see them all together first, before I jump on any limbs.

Ratliff provides a veteran the young bigs can learn from.
