Well, lets just take a quick look at the roster if this trade happens.
PG- Delonte SG- Iverson SF- Pierce PF- *** C- Perkins
***possiblly Ryan Gomes, or maybe Shelden Williams or Cedric Simmons
If Ainge is high enough on Shelden Williams or Cedric Simmons, that could be the reason why he would even consider something as ludicrous as trading away Al Jefferson. Or maybe he's convinced that Ryan Gomes can man the spot. I have no explaination to provide for getting rid of Gerald Green, though.
So does this starting 5 look good to you guys?

not good. honestly i'd be really disappointed if that was the package traded for iverson. as i've stated before gg,pp,aj,kp are untouchables in my eyes. iverson while being the utmost competitor doesn't like practices, doen't like to pass the ball and takes too many stupid shots. he's also getting old real soon. iverson and pp with no real frontcourt help deosn't win anything. anyway i'm confident in danny that he won't do anything as stupid as been rumoured. it's all part of smokescreens i'm sure

I seriously hope this is a smokescreen. I don't like this one bit.
But what would you think of this starting lineup, BC?

i don't think that pp and ai can coexist. both want the ball too much. it would turn delonte into a spot up shooter and perk and the 4 only the rebounders. once ai and pp retire nobody knows how to ball anymore

Philly isn't dealing from a position of strenght.
Danny has acquired some good "chips" to play with.
Wally,Allen, Gomes ,Al and the #7 are like green chips, Gerald is a black chip.
Iverson WILL be dealt but not for ALL of our chips. (just some green ones) Don't cash in the black chip.
Philly is dying to move on without AI, DO NOT IVERPAY for him!!!
Wally, TA and the #7 is MORE than enough for him. And frankly, I think THAT is overpaying for him at this stage of his career .
I'm not sure if they need Wally with Korver there, but we have to matrch salaries. Probably have to throw in Dickoau or Salabrini :-)

I do think Danny likes Iverson, but is probably <I'm hoping> hesitant to trade Gerald and Jefferson.
I do think Pierce and Iverson can coexist, though.

I'm just not a big adovocate on trading away both Green and Jefferson. Everytime I think about trading both of the players I keep on thinking about the pitno era where we gave up on Joe Johnson and Chauncy Billups so early.
But, none of those past trades are equivalent to the type of talent that this team is about to get in return. Allen Iverson is consider to be top 5 talent at SG or PG positions. The guy can put up a clinic at will which gives this team a huge advantage especially when it comes down the fourth qtr. Man, can imagine what the fourth is going to be like with Iverson and pierce on the same team? We're talking about being at the free throw probably every other play. That's what I called Spurs basketball. Being able to control the tempo of the game by attacking the hoop at will and controling the game clock at the same time.
Only problem, we lose our renowned front-court presence in Al Jefferson and skylining scorer in Gerald Green. I just don't want to see this trade bite us where the sun don't shine few years down the road. At the same time maybe Ainge doesn't feel going through a youth movement is the ideal way to build a chamionship team. Maybe he used these weak draft picks in order to get himself a player like AI. Then, next season with his two first round picks in 07 you can go back and establish more talent in the front-court.
I hope Ainge makes the right decision in the end so I'm not stuck watching this team suffer turmoil during what could be the AI/Pierce era.

Pierece was very excited at the thought of Iverson coming when he was on with SAS last night. I personally don't think AI fits our system and I don't think he and PP will play well together. Like I have said, Danny traded Ricky for Wally because PP and Ricky were too much the same player.... Well Iverson is even more so. We have 2 weaknesses right now.... we need a big and a PG. If we give away Al for Iverson, we now need 2 bigs and a PG... Iverson can play PG but he isnt the pure point Danny is looking for as Iverson's best position is at the 2. And giving away Green is absolutely terrible. He is going to be a perennial all star in this league and we as Celtic fans will be cringing every time we play the team that gets him long after Iverson is retired..... thinking of this trade is making me sick.
