With Danny and Kevin sharing workouts, you knew that this had to happen.... I am not sure what Danny would give up to get KG but don't seen it happening after Danny said he wouldn't trade his young talent for the sake of winning now. celtics.mostvaluablenetwork.com/the-offseason/get-ready-for-garnett-to-celtics-rumors-to-heat-up-the-blogosphere/A little birdie told me that a sportswriter friend of theirs informed them that a Garnett deal to Boston deal was in the works and nearing completion. Interesting since McHale is coming to town to share some workouts. Danny and Kevin have been spending a lot of time together. They must be doing business, or discussing such a deal anyway. Still, what would that take? Ah, we all know what it would take because we discussed it ad naseum for the past 3 months and things finally just quieted down again. But here it comes again. I think the rumor is going to burn through the message boards and the blogosphere over this weekend. So, is it really a rumor this time? And Rumor #2 that Makes me sick to my stomach.... Perk is our toughest inside player and we need inside toughness... I REALLY hope this is a baseless rumor... I still go back to Danny's statement that he won't trade away our youth for promise in the draft.... Perk is going to be a dominant center... If Danny gives him away, he will be sorry. celticsdoom.blogspot.com/2006/06/trouble-every-day.htmlAnyway, as we approach the draft, the talk out there in Celtics land is downright terrifying. A friend tells us he heard a report on WEEI this morning that Ainge is looking to move up in the draft, dangling Perk and the #7 for whoever will bite in the top 5. This is being done, apparently, in order to acquire the services of LaMarcus Aldridge, aka, "the guy no one really wants to pick because everyone compares him to Mark Blount."

I'd be hesitant to trade for KG if it involves Gerald and Jefferson. I want to keep those 2 guys.
Here's something to think about. Maybe the trade involves Pierce. I mean, if Minnesota is losing Garnett, McHale will certainly want a star player in return. Pierce and maybe Raef to make salaries work, along with a couple of young players not named Gerald or Jefferson.
If it doesn't include Pierce, we are most likely going to offer McHale Jefferson, Green, Perkins, Delonte, and whoever else has value. Pairing up Pierce and McHale sounds good, but of course, both are closely nearing 30 years old so we basically shoot down our future for the chance to win in the next couple of seasons. Does not sound like something Ainge would do.
As for the second rumor (Perk + 7th pick for Aldridge), I'm not interested. I really don't think Aldridge is a special player. Nice all around big man, but certainly not a future top 5 Center.

Here's something that may be in the works with McHale. Maybe there's a couple of guys he wants to draft, say Randy Foye and Brandon Roy (or Rudy Gay, whichever one is still on the board). If Ainge drafts for McHale, Kevin will have the 6th and 7th picks, and he can have those 2 guys.
If we trade Pierce and Raef plus the 7th, Minnesota can field a team of:
PG- Foye SG- Roy SF- Pierce PF- Raef C- ?
That's a pretty solid looking team right there. May be something he may consider.
But a problem will be where to put Jefferson if KG is at PF. At Center? Or would KG fit in at Center?

I really don't see the point in trading Paul for Garnett...

So, is it really a rumor this time? ************* When I read this, I must admit, I thought my buddy Justin had totally made this up, just like old friend Peter Vecsey and that crap about Ainge offering Pierce for the right to draft Chris Paul (oops, that was confirmed nine months later, wasn't it?). I suspect I was not alone in my skepticism, as Justin's arch rival; Jeff at Celticblog ran Justin's report, which struck me as unusual gratuitousness, unless he were looking for an opportunity to humiliate him later. ;>) Fearing the worst, I E-mailed "Jughead:" { From: justinfpoulin@yahoo.com Subject: Re: I'll bet you made that up. It was my own little experiment. However, it is possible that it is true if the other bloggers source is right, but I can't identify the validity of that source. I did this all in fun because I know everyone has their panties all bunched up heading into the draft...} Is Justin being "set up?" just who is that "other blogger?" Has someone started a "black op" against Justin, or does someone, somewhere, really think Kevin Garnette will be traded for Paul Pierce? Stay tuned, I suspect this story is just starting to heat up. Perk + 7th for top 5 pick?
If Aldridge is the guy Ainge wants then by all means do it up. But, we don't need a project so I hope Ainge see ALdridge as a starting center in this league or this would be a wasted trade for a guy who has proven he can be a decent center in this league.

The point in trading PP for Kg is that PP has never won us anything and KG is one of the best big men alive, and small men grow on trees in this league

And players of Paul's caliber don't grow on trees... There are not man high-scoring wing players in this league who can rebound and play D like Paul can...

To put it a different way there are about 25 PPs in the league and several more well on the way. There are about 6 KGs
KG didn't have a very good supporting cast there ever. I'm not interested in KG being on the same team with Wally though

It would be interesting to see KG w/ Wally in Boston, and the entire Celtics team (which is what it is going to take or P2) in MN.

What's the biggest question is whether Garnett would even want to come to here. I dont' think he wants to walk into the middle of a rebuilding project.

As opposed to the project in Minn? I guess he lives there but still

The only issue I have w/ Garnett (besides his immaturity) is his contract. Its a killer. People can say Kevin McHale, the Joe Smith debacle, etc, but Garnett's contract is the main reason Minnesota is strapped.

People can say Kevin McHale, the Joe Smith debacle, etc, but Garnett's contract is the main reason Minnesota is strapped. It was also strapped with Szcerbiak. Now they have their center in Mark Blount. Banks is presumed out of there and Marco Jaric takes over (OH BOY). I think the Garnett for Pierce and LaFrentz has legs but Indiana, Seattle, and Sacremento could also be involved in the wheelings and dealings.
