Interesting trade... What do you think it will mean for the Raptors' draft pick??? www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/41025/20060621/raptors_acquire_nesterovic_for_bonner_and_e_williams/Raptors Acquire Nesterovic For Bonner and E. Williams 21st June, 2006 - 5:45 pm Spurs.com - According to Spurs.com, the team has acquired Matt Bonner, Eric Williams and a 2009 second round draft pick from the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Rasho Nesterovic. Williams was not happy with his limited role in Toronto and the distance from which he was seperated from his son, which will be even farther in San Antonio. Bonner, a fan favorite in Toronto, will have to get used to a new atmosphere around Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker in San Antonio. Nesterovic's role with the Spurs was diminished by seasons end after coach Gregg Popovich went in another direction in the middle for the Spurs. The big Slovenian will be looked to as the Raptors' only true center.

Hmm... not sure why the Spurs wanted to make this move. I thought they needed more hellp on the inside. Matt Bonner certainly is not the guy who will help there. EWill can be a poor man's Bruce Bowen, but certainly not the defender, or the three point shooter Bowen is.

This news will certainly sadden many of the locals in the town I live in, since Matt Bonner played his high school ball here. Now we will only get to see him play twice a year. Bonner is probably the best player to ever come from New Hamsphire, and though he may not be a great NBA player, the spurs certainly have picked up a nice addition to their team. Also, congrats to Bonner for going to a team with a legitimate shot at NBA gold.

it will probably affect toronto's pick now. i always thought that when it's all said and done they picl aldridge. however now it seems more likely they take bargnani or trade down for someone else. danny said that aldridge will probably not be taken at 2, 3, 5, 6 so only portland seems to be the one who might be interested. or he may slip to us

I read today that Williams and Bonner have shorter contracts than Nesterovic; basically SA acquired long-term cap flexibility by trading Nesterovic, who had dropped out of their rotation anyway, in return for two shorter contracts.

Very good deal for SA - not so good for Toronto. I have never been terribly impressed with Rasho Nesterovic even in his salad days in Minnesota. I mean McHale made the fateful decision to replace Nesterovic with the estimateable Olowowakandi SA adds another 3 point shooting big man to complement Duncan. I think Raef LaFrentz would do well in San Antonio, too.

I think SA made the deal, because they knew they had made the mistake that Nesto wasn't the right fit.

A friend of mine is a big Spurs fan, and he's been talking about moving Rasho's contract for the last couple of years.
