Fabio, the author of this, below report, lives in Italy, has coached in the professional league there and probably knows Bagnani's game as well as anyone. He has been touting him as a future NBA star for at least two years.-JB

Bargnani pros: deadeye shooter, great shooting technique, brilliant shot-blocking, fair passing skills, awesome clutch play, good work ethic and coachability. Bargnani's cons: weak legs, sub-par rebounding skills for a 7 footer, seldom plays post-up offense, needs to improve his left hand ballhandling. I am sure that adding strength to his boyish frame could solve most of his problems, as happened with Gasol and Nowitzki.

I reallly like Bargnani and now a few mocks do have him sliding to us. It would be great to draft Bargnani and sign J Will as a free agent and I think we would be set for a very good year.

If Barg does slide, it'll be hard to pass him up. A 7 footer with his type of game is not common.
But where does that situate his future with us? With Pierce and Gerald here, and possibly Wally too, kind of makes it hard to envision his future.

Splitting time with Big al and let them fight it out for the starting spot. If they both pan out, Jefferson, with his back to the basket game, could certainly move to the 5 to backup/split time with Kendrick. For now, If Gomes get's some run at the three, with his inside game, Bargnani certainly could play the four with the second unit.

I think Barg would be eaten alive if he plays the 4. From the sounds of it, he's more of a 3 IMO.

no, no derren, he's definitely a 4. he would be eaten alive when he tries to guard 3's. imagining jefferson at the 5 and bargnani at the 4 with perkins and gomes backing them up would probably be a pretty good future

But the last thing we need is another PF shooting three's and playing the perimeter. Most recently, we had Walker and now we have Raef.
If he's projected as a PF, I'm not as excited to get him as I would be if he was viewed as a SF prospect.

Nice to hear from you D. As I haven't seen him play, can't say much about Bargnani. If nothing else, he could give us some scoring and be used as a commodity on the trade market if it seems there is a log jam in the 3 or 4.

Hey there, Mev. How goes things over at Scouts?
That's a thought. If our need for another wing player isn't that high on the priority list, Ainge can see if anyone wants to trade for the rights to Bargnani. Maybe swap picks so that we end up with someone's first rounder next year. Lots of good talent coming out next year (this year's high schoolers who need to wait a year after graduating before entering the draft).
