Got these two little tidbits from the Minny Star Tribune (with a tip of the hat to Jeff at CelticsBlog) Interesting that Banks is going to sign with the Lakers. Means that Minny won't pay that much to keep him in spite of all the hype from last year how he would be their PG. Maybe Danny knew all along that he wanted to go to the Lakers and we wouldn't be able to sign him either. Interesting that Minny may try to trade up to get Morrison. I thought McHale was in love with Gay from past stories. www.startribune.com/507/story/496470.htmlNo doubt the Wolves rank Gonzaga forward Adam Morrison as their No. 1 choice in the draft. However, the agent for Morrison won't allow his client to work out for the Wolves because he believes Morrison will be drafted long before the Wolves pick sixth in the first round. But don't be surprised if the Wolves try to improve their position in the draft so they can put Morrison in a Timberwolves uniform. The word is that Wolves free agent point guard Marcus Banks is headed for the Los Angeles Lakers. Two years ago, the Boston Celtics and the Lakers made a trade that had Banks going to the Lakers and Gary Payton moving to the Celtics. But Payton failed a physical and the deal was called off. The Lakers have been trying to land Banks ever since, and that is where he is likely to be when the 2006-2007 season starts.

I do think Banks can be a good PG for the Lakers. They run a system in which you don't necessairly need a good passing PG. Smush Parker did well for them last year, and Banks has more athleticism and quickness. Good, I hope he plays a prominent role for them so that when the Lakers and Celtics rivalry starts up again, there will be a sub plot to the battle.
