My name is Jackea Chan and I am an Audience Producer for ESPN2’s sports talk show Quite Frankly with Stephen A. Smith.
The reason I am contacting you is that we have just been notified that on Tuesday, June 27th, scheduled to appear live in studio is 5-Time All Star and current Boston Celtic Forward, Paul Pierce. Show time is slated for 7:30pm with check-in BY 6:00pm.
We would like to extend to you and other Boston Celtic fans FREE tickets to attend the show. We realize that this would be a great opportunity for members of your website to get together and meet up for an exciting sports show. The tickets are open to all who are interested, whether it be family members, friends, or co-workers.
Our studio is located in the heart of New York City, across the street from Madison Square Garden. Again the show date is Tuesday, June 27th, at 7:30pm with a 6:00pm check-in.
If you or any of your members are interested in attending the show, please call me at 646-708-7150 or email Jackea.X.Chan.-nd@espn.com. Please provide your first and last name, telephone number with area code and spell your email address. Someone from Audience Services will contact you if your reservation has been accepted.
In addition, please feel free to post this information on your website for all Celtic or NBA fans located in the New York or tri-state area.
Thank you.

No, it isn't a joke. It was on the Celticsblog boards and there was a whole thread proving it was legit. The bottom line is that since they are in NY they usually get Knicks fans and so they put out these notices to try to get more Celtics fans in. Since you live in NY go for it and you will get a confirmation back.

This guy is on the net for similar things. If you type his name into yahoo he is there for stuff about UNC. I can't tell if it's real or not. I just contacted someone at PPs web site and ESPN.com. I don't know if they'll get back to me or not. I've seen stuff like this before where it could actually be legit. I got free tickets to a reality show taping in NYC once.

Guys-
This offer is indeed legit. I left both my telephone number and email as ways of contacting me back at. If this were a hoax, both methods would not have panned out, and I probably wouldn't be posting a response now.
Bottom line is that since Paul Pierce is on the show, we want some Celtic green and fans in the audience. We could get Knick fans and New Yorkers to come watch the show, but I believe that Celtic fans would enjoy it more.
As for people question my name, I know that it sounds fishy and made up, but that is in fact my birth name. If you want proof, call the number that I provided. If I don't pick up, it will have my name on the greeting. If you don't want to waste your time calling, drop me an email. If I respond back to you, it means that the email is indeed legitimate.
If you want to further test the authenticity of this ask questions and I will be more than happy to answer.

"Our studio is located in the heart of New York City, across the street from Madison Square Garden"
I found that a little odd in the sense that "the heart of NYC" doesn't have an address. Is there an address on this? I would have thought the show would be somewhere else like possibly closer to the ESPNZone.

Address: Hotel Pennsylvania 401 Seventh Avenue (15 Penn Plaza) Entrance is on W33rd Street between 6th and 7th Avenues.
As for the studio being far from the restaurant, the ESPN Zone does have a mini studio for quick interviews and such, but the space is not large enough for a daily studio audience. We are not located closer to the ESPN Zone because of possible high costs to have a studio around the area (And yes, I realize that NBA Shoot Around shoots from Times Square, but again, that is not large enough to hold a studio audience).
If you have anymore questions, just post them here or contact me at the information provided below.

Guys I got these two emails today. It looks a lot more legit I'd have to say than I originally thought. These came through my email to PPs web site. Eddie I say go. Maybe I'll meet ya. Eric, Paul will be on the Stephen A. Smith show on June 27th in New York City. Thanks, Annie Civetz Excel Sports Management Hi Eric, I did check up on this, and it is 100% legit...so have fun if you attend! They are trying to schedule the audience to be big Paul Pierce fans, hence they sent out the message promoting the show. Thank you for the heads up and for monitoring that the info on Paul's appearances is correct. I appreciate it. Best, Heidi

Thanks for writing.
Jackea is a freelancer for the Quite Frankly show; she would know better than us if Paul is schedule for June 27, as she does the booking for the show.
Sincerely, ESPN Viewer Response Team
It looks like we owe Jackea was right and we were wrong

Thank you for the invite, but unfortunately, I like most other posters live far away from NYC. I'll watch the show, though.
Thank You,
Q

I've been told there's still tix to this thing, so I think I'll go if I can set things up. I'll probably wear Red Sox stuff.
