Between Al Jefferson and Gerald Green, who's rookie season had you more excited?

What, no poll? Very hard question. I'd say I got the feeling Al J could be an all star in 3 years which had me really excited since it's nearly impossible to get a legitimate all star big man, but GG gives me more of a feeling that he just will not be denied his place. The guy seems like a prodigy like he'll be one of the best guys in the game in like 2-4 more years. I mean nobody flies like that and seems to enjoy it so much. And he stayed focused through tough times like the NBDL, whereas it seems like AL J gives up a lot more by comparison. GGs body seems better too.

Al. High flying wings are a dime a dozen, but big guys with post skills are a dying breed.

MJ was a high flying wing. Horace Grant was a big man with post skills. Lebron is a high flying wing. So is Dwayne Wade. They are significantly more valuable than say Carlos Boozer. It's a matter of degree.

As for exciting me, it was definitely Gerald Green. He had a highlight play every game towards the end of the season.

It was a tale of two different seasons. AJ started slow, picked it up, then hit the rookie wall. G2 started real slow, then came on like gang busters at the end of the season.

Lets rephrase the question to: who did you feel had the better chance to be a star after their rookie season?

Gerald Green. His physical tools and heart impressed me more than Al J instincts and apparent smoothness. I was never sold on Al J over Perk completely, whereas I am sold on Gerald Green over nearly every wing in the league right now. I mean a dude that seems to be wearing a secret invisible jet pack when he jumps should be tested for roids nearly every day out of principle. There should be special science projects done at MIT as to why it looks like he floats or jumps so high he loses his balance. It's like he stole the professor's flubber. He makes Tony Allen, Lebron, and Paul Pierce look unathletic and unexplosive.

Good post, Eja. I agree with that. When you watch Gerald play, he has this look on his face that says, "I belong here". Nothing he does seems to surprise him. Whereas Jefferson, though he did score and rebound against veteran big men, looked rather young and inexperienced. He did a lot of flopping around and his footwork is far from being polished. This year, it looked better, but Big Al still has a way to go with cleaning up his footwork.
But like I said in a different post, I'm a big fan of Big Al. I like his game, especially his instincts for going after rebounds.
