I really hope Scal goes on a strength and conditioning program and comes back in great shape and really able to help us. He is a good teamate and always seems to try hard and I would really like to see him have a good year... Either that or maybe Danny will trade him for someone who can actually play.

Brian Scalabrine was back in New Jersey last Sunday evening, traveling with a Boston team he joined during the off-season after signing a $15 million contract. Part of the reason for the big contract was his stellar play toward the end of last season when he jumped into the Nets' starting lineup and helped lead the team into the playoffs.
Unfortunately for Scalabrine, a different style of play among the young Boston players did not work to his benefit. The result was a disappointing season that saw his numbers take a dramatic fall.
Basketball News Services sat down with Scalabrine for a few minutes to reflect on the 2005-06 campaign.
How has the season been?
Well, the season's been different. Obviously we're a young team that's looking to play guys and get better. But it's going to take time. This is the first time I've been in the situation where I'm not going to the playoffs. This is going to be a learning process for some of our guys.
You came to this team after signing a big contract and expectations were high. Do you feel you measured up to your expectations and do you feel the fans felt you met their expectations?
I would say I definitely have to take some accountability for the way I've played this year. Next year is a fresh start, but I definitely have to step-up because obviously not making the playoffs is not something we want to do as a team. I'm just as much at fault as anybody in this locker room that we didn't make it. I'm really looking forward to next year to meet that goal.
What was your role on the team?
This year I've been the 10th or 11th guy off the bench whose job is to go in there and help the young guys.
How does coach Rivers differ from coach Frank?
Doc, he really lets you play on the offensive end. You know, we have a lot of guys with a lot of talent. And I think he's extremely good at using their talents for creating great offensive shots. That's something that can go a long way in this league as far as scoring the basketball.
How do the fans in Boston compare to the fans in New Jersey?
They're more loyal over there [in Boston]. They come to every game and they're always cheering us on. They're extremely dedicated to the sport of basketball.
Thank you very much.
Thanks.
