Now that I've written it I'm starting to realize what a stupid question it is. Sorry everyone. I am suffering Celtics writer's block this week.

Not that bad of a question. I think Raef is the worst value. He has the huge contract and is very inconsistent. He is a big who doesn't play in the paint. His value is in being able to hit the 3 and spread the floor but more often than not his shot is off and he is ineffectual. Besides, we now have Wally who is much more efficient in shooting the 3 and will spread the floor. Add to that the fact that twice this season he has grumbled to the press and complained about his role on the team.

Raef is grossly overpaid - but he can do some good things like shot-blocking, rebounding, and muscling up if he would simply commit to it. His 3 point shooting is a gimmick skill that gives the C's a bailout option at times.
Scalabrine isn't much of a player at all. We are stuck with this bum for 4 more years taking up valuable roster space as deadwieght.
Overall, the roster is not in that bad a shape. Trading Blount helped out immensely.

i would say that Raef is the most overpaid, but dickau and scalabrine really cannot play for us.
dickau's defense is a huge liability and scal can't shoot the way he needs to and tries to dribble almost as a matter of instinct and that is an almost certain turnover.
the need to be on teams like San Antonio and Detroit where their deficiencies can be made up by other players.
both were really bad signings. i don't know how Danny can be such a good evalutor of talent in the draft but not in FA.

Boston is at a complete disadvantage when it comes to FA signings. They have developed a loser's complex in a rough media market and the weather is lousy. I thought Payton would never show up here after being traded to Boston. They must forget the FA market and try to build through the draft and wise trades. The deals for Vin Baker and the decision to resign Mark Blount both blew up in their face. The first Walker trade was a disaster because we ended with Raef LaFrentz, Jiri Welsch, but we got the picks that became Allen and West. That is all we have to hang our hat on right now. Then we are paying for the poor drafts and Pitino's mistakes today.

Good post Q. Until this teams wins, we lose in the FA market.

Raef's contract is almost impossible to move.
While red-head on the other hand can match salaries quite easily and won't make a huge impact on another teams salary cap.
