What do you think about a trade of
#6 pick and Raef/filler for Zach Randolph/filler
They had some good discussion about this trade on some other boards.
Personally, I think Zach is a headcase, but talent-wise if would definitely be an upgrade for what we need right now, a real low post presence. Perk would have to step up big on D though, because Zach struggles there. It would also help Paul out to have a real low post scorer on the team. Zach is still young too at 24. He fits the bill of the type of player that Ainge would trade for according to his most recent comments.
I could see Portland doing it considering Zach wants out and Portland is now trying to get “good” locker room guys. Maybe they would take back Dickau or Scal as well for the “good-guy” image. Dickau is a Portland native I believe.
I guess Raef would have to be starting though for him to really live up to being a “good-guy”. ;D

Randolph has been kicked out of practice, suspended for leaving during a game (left in the third quarter) and has been late for shoot arounds.
In other words, keep that crap in portland. He isn't much of an upgrade anyways especially when he's padding his stats instead of helping his team win.

Yeah. You have a point. I'm not really for or against it. I am for the notion that we need to improve our frontcourt. That is obvious.
Some could make the case that when Ricky came here, he came with some baggage and cleaned up his image, but Zach's baggage is a lot heavier.
Well, the off-season starts soon. We'll see what Ainge cooks up.

Zach Randolph is garbage. Guys like him do not translate into winning basketball, no matter how talented they are. Let Portland overpay him for the next 5 years.

I vote nay for randolph, but theo ratliff is on the block. I would love to get my hands on him. He's a defensive minded player, and a tremendous shot blocker, two elements that this team is in desperate need of. Word has it that the knicks are intrested. Defense should be the theme of this offseason.

I agree goceltics that defense has got to be a priority. But first it has to be Doc's priority. If the coach doesn't think it is important enough to stress in practice how are they going to get it? All our guys need to improve their defense but the coach has to make it a priority also. If Doc can't get it then we need a defensive coach.

It sounds like Portland is trying to slash payroll which is so unlike Paul Allen. If one of the 10 richest Americans are struggling, it is a serious indictment of the economy. Paul Allen wants out so he is going Gaston on his city. That franchise is in deep trouble and nobody in that community is interested in supporting the Trailblazers.

I agree with the sentiments on this thread: No to Randolph -- he is bad news and plays even worse defense than Jefferson. I also would rather have Ratliff than Raef, because I believe his contract is one year shorter plus he would enhance our interior defense, which we need more than another shooter.

ratliff is also well over his prime (read old and inefficient) and his salary is hell as well

I'd take him over Raef just because the contract is shorter.

Up until the las t 4-5 years, they were a class-act franchise. Always competitive, always well supported. Back in the day that place was a mad house for opposing teams. I hope they can someday turn it around.

Portland needs to make a call with Isiah. I can't think any other team in this league they'll easily take Randolph and Miles off their hands.
