Boston 22-33 3rd Atlantic / 10th East 97.9 99.5 Road 6-21 Won 1 4-6 LA Lakers 28-27 3rd Pacific / 8th West 98.2 96.8 Home 15-10 Lost 1 4-6
Ah, yes!!!!!!
The big matchup of the season is here. ANother rendition of Bird vs Magic, Worthy vs McHale, Kareem vs Parish. Showtime vs Hardwork. No need to hype this baby up.
And I am young, could break 90 in golf, and run all day.
Woops 20 years have gone by and things have changed. We must rely on the pontifications of Bill Walton to remember what was once great.
The Celtics and Lakers are relegated to Sunday night basketball and the C's make their 2nd and final national appearence on ESPN, probably out of courtesy to Bill Walton to hear him remember what once was.
On tonight's matchups - Kobe and Pierce is overrated. We need to look at Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown, and Smush Parker's matchups to find that Gomes, Szerbiak, and West should be at an advantage. This should be a decent NBA matchup as the Celtics fight for a three and one trip out here and finish off February with good games to look forward to in March.

This game is definitely winnable if we play like we have been... share the ball...make good passes... good defense... The kids need to all play well. Hopefully Delonte will find his shot again and be aggressive. We play much better when he is. Hoping that Gomes continues his strong play.
Since it is on ESPN and everyone should be able to get it, I won't be doing the play by play tonight. Hope it is a good one in our rare national TV appearance.

Team has been good so far on this trip. Won 2 road games. Admittedly against weaker teams, but a victory on the road is better than the losses they've accumulated so far. And played better against Phoenix than I would have anticipated.
Will be interesting to see how Doc works AJ and Perk back into the rotation. Will Perk go back into the SR? Or leave Raef there and bring Perk off the bench? Same with AJ.
Can Gomes keep outrebounding AJ? Can AJ give some offensive spark to the bench?
Does anyone have an opinion about Allen's leg? His stats don't look as good as last y ear. Wonder if he is still having some trouble.

I would like to see Perk back in the starting line up and move Raef to the bench.
I really hope that Doc still plays Gomes steady minutes. He clearly has earned them and only bring Scal in when they need to rough someone up.
Allen's knee should have healed long ago. The fact that he is still having problems with it is quite worrisome. It is obvious that he doesn't have his explosiveness and lift in spite of being back long enough to be back to pre op form. Whether it is lack of effort on rehab or something that is still wrong to keep it from healing correctly I don't know. He may never get that explosiveness back... In which case, it would really be a shame.

Perk has done a lot better staying out of foul trouble without backing down with his aggressiveness on the boards.
They really like Banks there. Ricky had a great game today too. He is so much fun to watch. He just brings so much energy to a game. Garnett was ejected for throwing a ball toward the sideline and it hit a guy in the first row. It didn't look like he threw it hard and the announcers said it just glanced the side of the guy's face. He was milking it for all it was worth and he was taken out on a stretcher to a chorus of boos from the crowd..... I smell lawsuit.
Back to Celtics Lakers.... I wonder if Al will play today. Doc said it was 50-50 last I heard.

After seeing some play by this team so far, I have made a decision:
DO NOT TRADE THE CORE AWAY
Hold onto West, Sczerbiak, Pierce, Jefferson, and Perk. When Green is developed, keep him as a 6th man until Wally's contract runs out. Until then, memo to Danny, keep this core group together. If I ever post a Pierce trade idea again, slap me in the face. C17, that is your job OK! ;D

Good play so far ... I really like this team.... I have said all along to keep the core together. I don't want to trade Pierce. I want to keep West, Perk, Al, Wally, Gomes, Greene and Green. I really see great things coming next year.
