Delonte West Ranking Against All Nba Point Guards
I came across this and thought it was pretty interesting. Keeping in mind that since he played so little last year he is basically a rookie this year, West has improved in leaps and bounds and I think the sky is the limit on his talent whether as our point guard or as a shooting guard. It was so funny during the Cleveland game somebody, I think it was Tanguay said something about Delonte not having point guard skills and the entire game, every time Delonte did anything, Tommy would bellow "That's point guard skills right there" I cracked up through the whole game listening to him. No doubt that Tommy believes that West is our PG of the present as well as the future!
The Blocks and rebounds stand out. He has a sweet shot and should be looking for it more, in my opinion. Another thing that stands out is his turnovers... he takes good care of the ball. I really like this kid.
Blocks- 1st Field Goal %- 4th Offensive Rebounds- 5th Defensive Rebounds-8th Rebounds- 8th Free Throw Percentage- 11th Efficiency- 16th 3 Point Percentage- 16th Steals- 17th Field Goals Made- 23rd Assists - 26th 3 Pointers Made- 27th Points Per- 28th 3 Pointers Att.-29th Field Goal Att.- 34th Turnovers- 43rd Free Throws Made 44th Free Throws Att.- 49th

I like West, however I am not sold on him as the future starter. Great player, and I hope will improve.

I see him as a solid starter on a championship team. If nothing eles, he doesn't ask for shots and can play the 2...

He is a key part of the Celtics future. I thought bringing back Payton might have been a mistake last year after we traded him to Atlanta to bring back Antione Walker.
West looked good as a starter last year.

There's a ton of "point guards" in this league that play a lot more like shooting guards. I think Delonte is more pointish than some of them. I mean if you can have a "point forward" whatever that is I guess you can have a short "point shooting guard". You also can't be too upset at Delonte if his whole team refuses to move the ball except him. Since Wally got here the ball moves more the way it should. I really don't think Delonte is the problem here. I think moving to replace him would send a seriously bad message. Delonte is everything that is right with this team. You can put him in the same category as Perk and Gomes, and almost Pierce. The exact oppositte of Blount and Raef. Raef may think he's playing hard, but honestly I say if you don't look like you are playing hard you aren't. There's always a player in the gym who thinks he is playing hard and never does.

Delonte is really coming into his own. I like the fact that he is looking for his shots more, but not forcing anything. He is just a smart basketball player. When you have a great shooter (which he is right now), mixed with a high b-ball IQ, which he has, it equals a very efficient offensive player. That is what Danny seemingly has acquired. (Wally, Delonte mixed with Pierce)
I think he can eventually turn into what Chauncey could have become for us. A great shooter who can hit the three, score, has a high b-ball IQ (something that Billups didn't have with us 1/2 season) and can pass. He is beginning to become one of my favorite players to watch and develop with this team. His hustle, determination and whole "leave it all on the floor" attitude are really top-notch.

I never thought Delonte would amount to anything special. Boy was i wrong, he's been simple amazing off late. He's another player on our roster that benefitted from our trade with Minny. With Banks, Davis & Blonut out of the picture, the Celtics play a game that better fits Delonte's abilities.
That trade has really worked out well for us!
