NY must think they were one player away, sending a boatload of draft picks to the Nets for Bridges. Thibs certainly had them playing hard over the last few months, and Brunson is a handful, but are they ready to challenge us now?

I was thinking the same thing about Miami too. Moving bam to the 4 and drafting a 5 who is 3 and D

Notice too that when we won in 08 other teams (Miami) tried the big three with bench shooters and D guys.

NY will be better. But if we're competitive on the glass, they can't stop our offense.
MIA can always be a threat with Spoelstra.

I think both teams are building themselves to match up with us. It's more obvious with NY, bit less with Miami.
It's interesting to see how teams are already navigating the offseason maneuvering to add players. All in an effort to prevent our almost inevitable repeat.

Another thing is, they may have the defenders to disrupt us but our stifling defense suffocates teams (just ask DAL). In order to take us down teams have to be able to be darn good on both ends of the court.

I think the Knicks are a within the margin of injury. With KCP leaving Denver there's not a lot of teams that scare me now. Maybe if Miami were healthy. Especially if they were and we weren't.

Actually now that I think about it the Thunder, TWolves, and Pacers concern me a tad.

And New York gave up pretty much every draft asset they had to trade for Mikal Bridges. He will make them better. They resigned Anunoby who made them better when he played after the trade. In his last 4 seasons, he has played 43,48,67 and 50 games. So, if he can stay on the court, good for them, but he has had trouble staying healthy his entire career and playing for Thibs doesn't bode well for him getting much rest during the season unless he is hurt. The Knicks also lost Hartenstein and that is a big loss for them. He was a key player for them. So, on paper, they are better but they don't play on paper.
They have basically assembled Villanova's championship team. Maybe they are hoping for that Championship chemistry to still be there but all of those players have changed over the years so who knows if that will be a factor.
I wouldn't be surprised to see OKC come out of the West.
