I'm hoping we let Sam Hauser become a free agent and then re-sign him to contract that is good for both him and the organization.
But aside from Hauser, there are oher decisiions to be made. Such as what to do with these free agents:
Oshae Brissett Luke Kornet Xavier Tillman Svi Mykhailiuk
Would you like Brad bring these guys back? Look to see if there are upgrades to replace them?

hoopshype.com/salaries/boston_celtics/Brissett has a player option for $2.5 mil. I like him as an energy guy, but if he opts out I don't know I'd be willing to pay his salary plus the luxury tax to keep him. But if we can get him cheap, maybe. Svi is gone. Nice shooter, but we don't need him. Luke is important both as big man depth, and for team chemistry. He's the funniest guy on the team and in a long season, that isn't nothing. I'd want to keep him but as with all these guys we should always be looking to upgrade. Tillman contributed, a little, but I think we can probably replace him fairly easily. It might be easier to bring Queta along. He's true big man and we have an option on him. JD Davison is also a free agent and I think we let him go. I don't think he's an NBA player yet.

Yeah, I'm not feeling it with Davison. I'm ok with letting him go. Oshae? I'm on the fence. Aside from energy, I don't know what I'm getting from him when he checks into the game. His offense is too sporadic. I've always liked Svi, even before his days at Kansas. Hard to believe he's still only 27. I see a Christian Braun type player in him, so I'm still holding out hope for him. I like Luke much more than Queta. If we had to hold onto one, I'm all for Luke. Too early on Tillman. But with an offseason to get down our defensive schemes and working on the corner three's, we may have Horford's replacement in the making.

These are hard to let go but let Brisset walk unless we can get him on the cheap. I think he is gonna want to get paid now while he can and we just cant do it. I like him but we don't need him
Luke I think we need. I wouldn't let Luke go unless it was absolutely necessary and he didn't want to be here. Other than that, Luke is really decent for us in backup minutes. One of the things we have not seen from him yet is his long ball because he has been playing within the system that was needed this year with already having KP providing that at an elite level. People are sleeping on Luke's stretch ability just because we've not got to see it or needed it. KEEP LUKE!
X is a whole other thing. We just got him mid season so I feel bad for just ditching him but what I saw in the playoffs from him was ok. I love X's attitude and hustle and I know he knows what we need from him and definitely knows his role, however, we only got him to help out cuz we knew someone would get hurt *coughs KP* and now we don't really need him.
And this is gonna be controversial but Svi Mykhailiuk I would definitely bring back. I see a poor man's Hauser in him. If Hauser's stock continues to go up with us and he he is able to move up a roster spot minute-wise, I could see Svi Mykhailiuk filling in that void. He's another player who can step in and give you 9 from spots up from deep. He has had at least 4 season where he has already shown he can do that averaging around 10 pts on an avg 35% clip from three however that is misleading. Svi has had quite a few seasons hitting higher shooting numbers. Granted with limited touches and minutes but he has started many times and is only 26. His true shooting is like 55%. Making him an effective scorer in spot minutes. Ive liked every possession I've seen from him when he got in. Hustling and hitting a 3 or two when called on.

To add on Tillman, he was brought in to help with burly bigs (Jokic) but still be able to switch on wings and guards.
Against the Mavs, X was too short to effectively alter Gafford and Lively (fast, athletic, springy Bigs who love the lobs).
Maybe he's primarily here to be used off the bench against certain matchups (with Kornet/Queta handling taller Bigs).

I was initally high on putting X in the finals and he didn't mess up when he got called. I just didn't like his hesitation to take the big shots and I didn't see him being better than having Kornet out there instead.
He will have a job anywhere NBA now so he will be fine.

Apparently Tillman told WBZ’s Dan Roche that he “very badly” wants the opportunity to repeat.

Apparently Tillman told WBZ’s Dan Roche that he “very badly” wants the opportunity to repeat. One would think that would be code for "I'll take the vet minimum" and at that rate we should probably keep him, especially since we probably lose Kornet and Brissette.

Apparently Tillman told WBZ’s Dan Roche that he “very badly” wants the opportunity to repeat. I bet he does! I don't mind keeping him around but he has to be willing to take less than he could get somewhere else and step into a role that will see him contribute and thus get PT. Otherwise, if we are using him as insurance like last year I would rather we do something like that through the draft or some vet min.

Kornet signed a one year deal to come back. I like it.

And now I'm seeing Queta is coming back on a multi-year deal, after the Celtics declined their option on him.

Getting back Tillman will give me more confidence about a repeat. I believe his defense will much needed.
Glad we brought back Kornet. Interesting it's only a one year deal.
Not so thrilled with Queta getting a multi year deal (though it's cheap). Hope he proves me wrong.

Not so thrilled with Queta getting a multi year deal (though it's cheap). Hope he proves me wrong. The flip side to the multiyear deal is that it will give us asset leverage in a trade. We have to be careful about how we move players and their contracts since we are second apron lux. What we are seeing here is 100% to the benefit of the Cs to do this deal this way. They wouldn't be able to get away with it with a player in a better position to negotiate.
