Secondly. I'm very happy for the two J's both getting supermax's however it will limit us in terms of cap flexibility and signing/getting additional pieces. Seems Wyc is ok with spending a bit of money if it means winning. Thoughts?

Jayson Tatum is eligible for a Supermax contract extension this summer. The Boston Celtics star helped the franchise snap a 16-year drought on Monday (June 17) as the Celtics won their 18th banner.

Tatum is expected to sign a contract worth approximately $315 million over five years. That deal would make Tatum the highest-paid player in NBA history.


Tatum has evolved into a complete player this season. He has become an elite playmaker, high-level rebounder and underrated help defender. His status as one of the best players in the world has been cemented.

I'm expecting bigger things from Tatum and Jaylen now that they've won the title. They're the kings of the hill and they're going to fight hard to stay there.

I hope they can get him signed before that new tv deals comes along and jacks up all the salaries yet again. It would be cool to get him and Brown in before that happens.

I just read this article about the new TV deals and the NBA salary cap, so this is a good place to link to it:

The cap won't go up until the 2025-2026 season. Due to the most recent collective bargaining agreement, the cap then won't go up by more than 10% per year. I would assume JT would want to sign now, but I guess you never know. He'd probably make more by waiting, but he could value the "bird in the hand" more.
