Watching Celtics news videos about KP and his injury and I can't help but think how I've been caught up in the hype over the idea of KP being a 7'3" Unicorn. Just daaaays after coming back from an injury he is injured again and can't play due to some rare issue with the tendon on his other leg. So it all got me to thinking 🤔
I fear KP will never be healthy enough to truly fulfill the unicorn hype. Becuz the whole reason we have him is against title contenting teams like the Mavs... especially the Mavs. What do we do about KP?

Oh and in one clip I watched it was said if KP had played injured, "even a cardboard cutout of Porzingis is better than him not playing" but Mavs were "still going to lose".
At first that struck me as funny but also got me thinking about the whole KP being injured again and what happens after the Finals.

I think we'll keep him, but Brad will look to add a young, athletic big for depth. We're playing with fire having KP and an aging Al as our two main big men.

Perfectly pointed out and was also my point. I want to keep KP too. Just wondering if we should limit and split his minutes during the regular season if he is always going to have these type injuries. Becuz I like KP too. The guy is a monster when healthy so would be nice to keep him for a title run next season where you know we will face tough Western comp especially with these young teams showing up like OKC and the Wolves.

I think we have KP for two more seasons at around 30 mill a season. I think that is reasonable for his age and production, but they'll have a big decision to make with him on his next contract. Do you want to be paying him big money as he enters his 30s? Guys his size historically don't age well.
I do think we'll take a stab at some developmental bigs with our late picks. I also think we will be doing a lot of digging through the vet min discount basket to help find veteran 5s that can fill minutes at the 5. Think Blake Griffin from 2 years back.

I would take he Bill Walton route and play him 16 minutes a night. The problem is Al can't play 40 minutes a night. And Kornet's contract is up and he's in line for a significant raise, but I think we have a chance to keep him. This brings us to Neemias Queeta that I loved this year. Hauser has a team option for next year. So our top 8 are back but we definitely have to start developing more. I don't think JD Davidson developed. Tillman's contract is also up and Brissett has a player option. So Steve has his work cut out for himself drafting and signing guys.

I hope we draft Bronny James one spot ahead of the Lakers in the 2nd round. I can't see why we wouldn't do this. What on Earth would be the down side?

I do not think Bronny will be as bad as peeps think. He will not be a star, however he has upside to be a tre-mendous 6th man, aka White or even Holiday.

We will definitely keep KP but his minutes need to be limited during the season. We definitely need a younger, athletic big man. Al will be another year older and unable to play big minutes. We need a better back up big man. I'd love to get Timelord back but I don't believe that would be possible. Personally, I'm not a fan of Bronny James but then again, I haven't watched him, just read reviews that weren't all that good.

Not sure if I would want Timelord back. I just dont know how much longer he can go. If we do pick him up and for spot mins of less than 20 ppg then ya maybe. But I feel that if he is still in the L in the next 2 seasons I will be surprised. There are guys with less risk at his position for what he does we could get without the injury baggage. He isnt even really a 10/10 player or has the potential to be that due to his injury plagued career. 6 seasons with only 2 having played 50+ games.

I agree if you were to bring back R Will you have to do it at league minimum in order to price in the injuries, and he has to be limited to some absurd amount of minutes per night. You can't really have a guy that can't practice. He let us down in the playoffs before and we can't keep having that.
At one point I thought Zach Edey was a decent draft prospect for us but he seems to be moving up out of our range. Maybe Filipowski could help.
To me when you draft a guy at this point it's more like you're drafting him for two years out. You're hoping the guys we have can be a bridge to him or that he can play a ton of minutes in the regular season to protect Al and KP.

I wonder if we have anywhere near the money we'd need to bring in Jonas Valanciunas. I think he's a free agent. I wonder if we could do a sign and trade with Kornet. Maybe if Horford wants to retire we could do a trade there and Al could retire and take the money off the books for that team. I think Al only makes like 9mill. Maybe if we tacked on a guy.....
Maybe KP could land us Jonas. Jonas can shoot a bit and doesn't get nearly as hurt.
Yeah, he made 15mill each of the last two years. I think it's not a huge stretch. Especially if you lose Kornet who will cost something anyway.
Really solidifies things.
The move definitely gets him closer to the Lithuanian community than New Orleans or Memphis.

I was looking at some trade scenarios as well. I had thoughts about Day'ron Sharpe becuz he is a 7 footer who can shoot from deep but Nets would never do it. My thought was sending them X and Queta for Sharpe and filler. Problem is Nets would lose about 5 pts on Off and take on $5 mil in contracts. Not to mention has growth potential and upside. I dont see Brooklyn feeling that deal but I can dream.

All this being said, I want to make it clear I want and like Tingus Pingus very much and I want to keep him. My ideal outcome is that he gets some really good rest and therapy from our great Boston medical and we can run him 25 mins or more per game. I would like to see us be more careful with him around playoffs too.
