Hello all. It's that time of year again. I wanted to post after our terrible (but predictable) loss at the end of last season but I had a terrible summer & couldn't find the time to post 'til now. Anyway, a lot has happened huh. Big game losses, the draft, trades, etc. There's a lot I want to say about at least a few things & I didn't think that posting it all in one big long post was the way to go so I'm going to divvy it up into 2 threads both w/the same title but Pt 1 & Pt 2. The premise of both threads will be: I'm not as excited about this year's team winning the title as everyone else seems to be. Going back to the end of last season I'd posted that major changes might be needed depending on how the season ended. Obviously major changes were in order & we got them. I'll talk more about the changes in my next post but I wanted to say here that this team IMHO is still suffering from at least 3 big mistakes that we've not overcome.
1) Not trading Terry Rozier when we had the chance & letting him walk out the door for nothing. He was at his highest value either the year before or the year he left & we got nothing for him. I don't know if anyone here remembers but I wanted to trade him for Bobby Portis who we could still use today. 2) Getting rid of both Banes & Theis practically at the same time. I would've kept at least one of those guys for a little longer. Granted we got RWIII a little later but his health was a concern his whole time here which left us thin in the front-court too often & we still are (more on that in my next post). Lastly, I am not sold whatsoever on the contract we gave Jalen Brown. I know it's what the market calls for but as some of you might remember I wanted to trade him the year before last to Cle for the [HASH]2 pk in the draft for the kid they took. Yeah, he's been hurt for them but who knows if he have been hurt for us & we needed a guy like him who's a true 7'0, athletic, can play above the rim, shoot, and block a shot or two. Your front-court could possibly have been any combo of: Al, RWIII, Theis and/or Banes, Portis, Cle's pk in the draft (Mosley is his name I think). You still could've gotten White, Brogden, etc. and eventually Unicorn & Holiday, or other player(s) if you thought your front-court was too crowded if you desired. Again this is only pt 1 & I'll have more to say on the trades & where I think this team is now in terms of winning a title in pt 2 but please feel free to change my mind here...
