Let's say BOS was the top seed ([HASH]1), however faced MIA in the first round, and lost 4-3. Then, MIA beats NY, then either PHI/MIL. Would the off-season be any different? Discuss.

Well, sure. At least our guys got a couple of series wins over ATL and PHI. I think mentally, losing in Game 7 of the ECF is preferable to losing in the first round. It feels like the latter would have been more of a regression. Coming back after being down 3-1 to PHI, and specifically Tatum's 51 in Game 7, are confidence boosters for the future. So is coming back from 0-3 against MIA, although that one comes with a warning not to put yourself in that position.

Like they always played better, sans the game #7/MIA, when the margins were small, not large.

I don't know if we're overconfident, but we don't play with urgency all the time. I think we need to understand that we are only one of at least 4 really good teams in the East and we have to play as though our best is required to win.
I also think that we think our window is really long and thus there's no urgency, but that's foolish thinking.
I really believe, 100%, that the main issue with our team is mental. There's enough talent, enough experience, and other than Al, enough youth. What we lack is poise and smarts, and maybe mental toughness.

Rumor, not fact, Wyc visited the team after game #3, and gave them a speech. Think it helped for 2 games; 1 game was lucky; and the last game was a disaster.
