On the trade front. I'm looking at this roster now, and I see potential for having an upper echelon player at each spot ultimately given time.. Plus financially we are in good position to let our young players grow, while having enough experience to support them. I could see the C's sticking with this roster for the next 3 years at least, minus a few minor adjustments.
PG- Starter- West, Backup-Greene
SG- Starter- Pierce, Backup-Allen
SF- STarter-Wally, Backup-Green
PF- Starter-Big Al, Backup-Scalabrine, Gomes
C- Starter-Perk, BAckup-Raef
I like the current mix a bunch. West is quickly becoming an upper echelon pg in this league, if he isn't already. Some people are not sold on West as the starting pg for this team. I am. Pierce is going to stick. He is playing too well not to. Plus he is the leader of this team, and our best player and will continue to be that for a long time imo. Wally is a very solid player, and a true Sf that this team has been lacking. Big Al and Perk, given time are going to be a godsent for this team, and as a tandem are going to provide the C's with that interior play that this team has been lacking for so long.
We have potential for a super bench, with explosive and young up and comers like Orien, Allen, and Green at the guard spots. Plus a couple bigger forwards in Scal and Gomes that can do different things. Scal can provide hustle and defense. Gomes is more of a scorer and offensive rebounder. Raef is serviceable although overpriced. As a bench player I think Raef fits in better with this team ultimately.
That leaves us with Kandi's expiring contract after this season. I'm guessing we are going to need another big guy to fill that spot that can make more of an impact off the bench. Who knows if he comes cheap enough we may extend him. But I see Danny going after someone that can really make an impact coming off the bench here, on the boards and inside. Or maybe Perk can be that for us. And we get a starter. Who knows.. I still think Perk is going to be the starter if I had to bet on it
We also need a 3rd pg. We have Dickau sitting there who may or may not be able to be that.
