I tuned in just long enough (about 20 seconds) to see that whatever that was, it wasn't basketball. I'm glad Tatum got to check "all-star game MVP" off his career bucket list, but I don't find the whole spectacle the least bit entertaining. How impressive is 55 points when no one is guarding you? I hope they find a way to fix it.
I did pull up a video of the slam dunk winner doing his thing, and that was fun.

They need to make the money more meaningful. Give the winning team x3 the money or something. And bring back east vs west.
The dunk contest was a lot of fun. Seems like the dunk contest goes through a lot of highs and lows.

Players used to play this game and then they stopped. Not sure what happened or why. I think it's clear players used to be more competitive. You can't tell me the Lebron's and Kyries and Durants of the world are anywhere near as competitive as the MJs, Birds, and Kobes used to be. It's not close.
I think when baseball gave home field to the winners that mattered and should be considered in the NBA. I think they should even consider some sort of system where if you've been to two all star games unless they vote you in again you have to wait for 5 years unless you were MVP. Because these players absolutely don't care.
This has happened in the NFL too.
As long as we're already in gimmick land I'd have 3 WNBA all stars on each team and make both teams have 1 on the court at all times.
Maybe whichever side wins that conference gets an extra million in cap money per team the next year and the losing conference gets a million less. I suppose that might only affect the tax but still.

Oh and since the players quit playing this game I pretty much quit watching it. I didn't watch a minute this year. I saw one highlight.

One thing with all-star games in general, they'll never be what they were 40-50 years ago. back then the all-star game was your chance to see out of market stars play. now with cable and the internet, we can see every highlight of every game. The mystery is gone.
