Just listened to Danny on WEEI and he had some interesting things to say.
First he has lots of calls in and is working on a couple of deals that are serious and he expects something to happen in the next couple days. He said that he doesn't think anyone knows about a few of the deals he is working on.
What he is working on are 2 for 1 or 3 for 2 deals because he wants to clean up and simplify the roster. We have too many guys of equal talent at the same position. He really likes Gomes and would like him to be able to get more time.
They asked what he is looking for and he said a shooter. That we have a good FG% but really need a good shooter.
They asked if he was disappointed in Blount and he said no, not at all (still trying to trade him, remember?) and said that Blount doesnt rebound like Perk but that Perk doesn't score like Blount and that neither can run the team like Scal. Each brings something different to the table.
He has no regrets over not bringing Artest in. Said that Indy had targeted Peja from the beginning and Kings at first didn't want to trade him. He said that the only player we had that would be comparable that they would have taken was Pierce and that was out of the question.
Wyc and the owners and Doc and Danny meet periodically to discuss long and short term goals and to be sure they are all on the same page. That Doc takes the losses really hard and he really cares and works hard.
Green is doing very well. he is becoming a good on the ball defender and offensively is much better and has improved a lot from the preseason. He still needs to improve on team defense as he gets lost easily. He also needs to improve on activity stats like blocks, rebounds, steals etc because with his athleticism he should be able to excel in these.
He said that we are about where he thought we would be as far as our play and the improvement of the kids but that we haven't been able to get the breaks and calls when we need them and just need to put it together. He said there is no need to over react.
He said again that he is optimistic that something is going to happen in the next few days as far as a trade.
