Welcome aboard to our newest acquisitions. Vonleh has signed a one year deal, while Caboclo is a camp invite.

I have higher hopes for Caboclo. Has the raw tools to be a good 3-D swing big who can fill in at the 3, 4, and 5. Would be great if our coaching staff can develop him.

I'm in shock this was the best they could do. Guys that thoroughly played themselves out of the league. I'm more optimistic about Bruno

They are like the Malik Fitts of the world.

I don't think the growth potential is there at all

These guys aren't going to play anyway - unless we're devastated by injuries or it's a blowout. Doesn't move the needle one way or the other at all.

I still don't think either guy is going to play much, but here's a little more in-depth info on both of them.
From theathletic.com
Vonleh and Caboclo are two more former first-round picks willing to audition for a roster spot this fall. Vonleh, 26, averaged 14.4 points and 9.2 rebounds last season in China while shooting 38.8 percent on more than four 3-point attempts per game. He has typically been a plus rebounder whenever given a chance to play NBA minutes; his career defensive rebound percentage (24.4 percent of available rebounds while on the floor) would have led the Celtics last season. A 2014 lottery pick, Vonleh has bounced around the NBA, playing for seven teams over the first seven years of his career. He last played for the Nets during the 2020-21 season, appearing in four games before the team waived him.
He occasionally has unleashed some impressive off-the-bounce moves in his seven NBA seasons, offering reminders that he was once considered a top prospect in his class.
A 6-foot-10, 260-pound bruiser with a 7-foot-4 wingspan, Vonleh could still have some untapped potential. Promisingly, his teams have always defended better with him on the court, according to Cleaning the Glass’ on/off stats. At the other end of the floor, he has always been a low-usage player, with a career average of 10.5 points per 36 minutes.
Caboclo, once famously described by Fran Fraschilla as being “two years away from being two years away,” is now a 26-year-old veteran coming off an MVP season in Brazil. With the Utah Jazz summer-league team last month, the 6-foot-9, 220-pounder averaged 12.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 60.5 percent from the field. His most productive NBA season came in 2018-19, when he averaged 8.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game with the Grizzlies. Drafted 20th by the Raptors in 2014, Caboclo has some eye-opening physical traits, including a 7-foot-7 wingspan that ranks among the NBA’s longest. He stuffed the stat sheet in Brazil last season, posting averages of 18.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and 1.1 steals per game. He even stepped out to make 40.4 percent of nearly six 3-point attempts per game.
---------
So, both guys can shoot fairly well from behind the arc, as can Kornet.

I just want to point out that Brazilian season that Bruno won the MVP for was 9 games long. 9 games season. It was a tourney. This article sheds some light on the situation. I think it's likely Brad has been told not to spend any more money. I also think there is a specific strategy at play here, which is simple. We don't know how these bench guys will do. We don't know if Kornet will be strong. We don't know if he or Danilo will get badly injured. We don't know what's going to happen. So expect movement later at the trade deadline. Expect way down the line a surprise free agent signing or a trade. Maybe some ten day contracts first. There are actually a bunch of older vets that are still available right now. But we don't really know who we will need. So for now it's an open competition. Vonleh and Bruno will have to earn their way onto the team, and frankly I won't be shocked if we stash one or two of them in Maine similar to how we got Denzel Valentine in Maine last year. I would think Vonleh in particular might prefer to spend the year in Maine, rather than China again. www.masslive.com/celtics/2022/08/celtics-to-have-open-competition-at-training-camp-brodric-thomas-justin-jackson-potential-contenders-report.html

I think this also strongly spells out Yam and Begarin are staying overseas at least one more year.

There is one thing to be said for all this.....Stevens keeps exploring former first rounders. In some cases former lotto picks. He has gotten, or will get a chance to see up close in less than two seasons ....Nik Stauskas, Vonleh, Bruno, Justin Jackson, Denzel Valentine, and Kabengele. It's not unheard of for a draft night darling to play his way back into the league. Gerald Green comes to mind.

Danny had a penchant for under-sized players; Brad has a penchant for former lotto picks. *Vonleh - recall he has huge hands. *Caboclo - recall he is 2-years away from being 2-year away.

I read somewhere that Caboclo is expected to be a rotation player the same year nuclear fusion becomes a viable energy source here on Earth.
