Ime ran the starters to the ground. We were worried about Rob's leg and Al's age, but it didn't seem to bother Ime.
Was it a product of not trusting his bench?
Or is he going to go heavy with his starters regardless of how much the bench is improved?

I think it was the lack of depth, which got worse as the Finals wore on. I totally expect a different approach with Brogdon and Gallinari on board, and the other bench guys having an additional year of growth.

I think it'll lessen somewhat with improved bench depth, but I don't think Ime's substitutions were that severe. I don't think it's a problem to have your stars on the court for 40 minutes in a playoff game.

I think what we will start to see is Rob and Al strictly playing the five with a smaller lineup. I could see a lot of minutes for a Smart-Brogdon-Jaylen-Tatum-Al/Rob lineup.

I agree, and in general I think that playing Rob and Al roughly half the game each will help them keep fresh and healthy.
Tatum showed the most fatigue, which was odd given that he's 24, but then you consider that he played the 2020-21 season, then the Olympics, then the 2021-22 season, with virtually no time off. He'll benefit from getting a good 3 month rest this summer.

My hope is that virtually nobody on the team plays starters minutes until they start to ramp up in late March. I think being fully healthy in the playoffs is the difference. You could see it with our team and you could see it with other teams. That whole playoffs was the story of health and fatigue.
