C's get Malcolm Brogdon for Theis, Nesmith, a few other table scrap contracts, and a 2023 1st round pick.

Now you're talking!
I think it's fair to say now that Brad values proven NBA players over mid to late first round draft picks - at least for where the Celtics are right now.

Another big guard. 6'5" with a 6'11" wingspan. Fits right in to our defense and improves our penetrating ability. Had an off year shooting 3s, but historically is an above average shooter from deep. And we gave up no one who played meaningful minutes in the Finals.
We'll need to find some big man depth. Maybe someone will show during summer league.

We didn't give up anyone in our top 8 rotation, and we recieve Brogdon, who could push Smart either to SG, to the bench, or off the team.
Brogdon is a smart player -- that's what Ime wanted.

Brad is wasting no time. We're already much improved over the team that came so close. And we still have that $17 mil TPE to use if we want.

The TPE would be pretty useless in a trade for a max level player. It cannot be combined with any players, so the max salary we could take back would b 17.1 mill

I don't see any way of getting KD without giving up JB, and probably Smart as well.
The TPE would have to be for someone else.

Poor Jaylen. Thinks he's seen the last of Kyrie as a teammate and then ...

Poor Jaylen. Thinks he's seen the last of Kyrie as a teammate and then ... 😁 BRK would be smart to rid themselves of Kyrie at whatever cost. It's worth the sacrifice. If this hypothetical trade does happen, BRK needs to build around Jaylen and Marcus, and not let Kyrie affect them.

From The Ringer: www.theringer.com/nba/2022/7/1/23192325/rudy-gobert-nba-free-agency-trades-deals-rumorshere's the section about Brogdon: Brogdon has averaged a shade under 18 points on 46/37/88 shooting splits, 5.5 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game since becoming a full-time starter four seasons ago in Milwaukee. During his three seasons as a Pacer, the only players to post as high a usage rate, as high an assist rate, and as low a turnover percentage as Brogdon were Damian Lillard, Jimmy Butler, and Kyrie Irving; he immediately becomes the surest set of hands in Boston’s rotation. He could also be a vital source of north-south burst for a Celtics team that finished the regular season 22nd in its share of shot attempts at the rim. In spite of Udoka’s repeated entreaties to play the drive-and-kick game to generate offense, Boston ranked 13th in the league in drives, points scored, and assists dished off of drives per game; Brogdon ranked fourth, ninth, and tied for third among all NBA players in those categories last season. Add all that to a familiarity and comfort playing off the ball—Brogdon entered the NBA spotting up opposite Giannis Antetokounmpo, and has shot 41.7 percent on nearly 800 catch-and-shoot 3-pointers during his career—and put it all in a 6-foot-5, 230-pound package that fits seamlessly into Boston’s organizational mandate to field gigantic, versatile defenders at every position, and Brogdon looks like a phenomenal addition.

Stands out at off-ball and on-ball. He's good at controlling the tempo too.
