What does Tatum need to work on to improve his performance on the court?

ball handling. not getting shook in big moments. stop bellyaching to the refs whenever another player breathes on him.

The refs were calling the game VERY differently this year and Tatum never understood it. I'm sure there were a ton of plays that would have been called fouls in past years that the refs let go this year, but he has to adapt to that and he never did. Ime may have to give him an ultimatum: Bellyache and you sit.
I want to see JT work on getting his shots off quicker a la Curry. Catch and shoot. Moving more (and better) without the ball would help too. And when he does take it to the hoop, do it with force a la Giannis.

2 major things Tatum has to work on:
- lower body strength. JT better be doing tons of squats and leg presses to get stronger in his base. He easily loses steam on his drives because he gets insufficient push from his base. Also, he was having trouble backing down Wiggins -- not Draymond, but skinny twiggy Andrew Wiggins!
- quick pullups from midrange. JMost, you mentioned this too, Tatum has to be able to rise up quickly with his height and length and get off clean shots.

Oh, and probably bigger than anything Tatum can do this summer, JT cannot shrink from his Finals didappointment, but he has to come out with a vengeance.
All his professional career he's been told he's going to be great, he's going to be All-NBA, he's going to be a superstar -- he's got to earn it, show it, prove it.
Big summer for him. This might be the defining moment of his career.

Was JT's shoulder bothering him more than he was letting on?
He did seem reluctant to shoot, even when he had daylight on his man to pull the trigger.

Go back to the Hanlon shooting drill, which is a drill where you get the ball in a certain spot, can't dribble, and have to shoot within 3-seconds.

In case you forgot how good Tatum was this year.
3 things that made him look so defeated in the Finals:
Exhaustion -- played a ton of minutes (and don't forget that he played hard on both ends of the court all season, and in the Olympics last summer). Going through back to back grueling game 7's emptied his tank.
Shoulder injury -- I think there is something to be said about this. Tatum was airballing shots.
Not knowing how to play against the Warriors' defense. Even Smart admitted that they tried everything (including trying things they never tried before) -- the team was just confused.
All these combined to make Tatum look way out of his league. But let's not forget how tremendous he looked earlier in the season when he was healthy and had more juice in the tank.

Game [HASH]6, BOS started the game playing inside-out. It worked. Then they stopped. Why?
I thought Tatum was a top-10 player, however Wiggins was the main draw, and he couldn't shoot over the top of him, like he did previous series.

And that's why the first thing that Brad said to Tatum was get some rest. JT was out of gas.

I almost kind of wonder if Tatum had just not had the shoulder situation, the nearly two straight years of basketball, and reduced his turnovers by say 15% are we at least looking at game 7?

I would think so. A normal Jayson Tatum smokes Andrew Wiggins, and shuts him down defensively. He would have had Wiggins in foul trouble.

Averaged double rebounding #'s versus BOS too. Alot better than fans think.
