1 question, can Horford replicate his performance at least once more this series?
I hope so. Maybe Horford realizes this might be the best opportunity to get the title he longs for. Soon to be 36, nothing is guaranteed.
Maybe while he's still playing at a high level, he's putting it on himself to pour out blood and sweat and lay it all on the floor.

It would be very interesting and entertaining if Al Horford actually brought his A+ game and brought it toe to toe with Giannis.
He's sooorrrtttaaa a quasi local legend now. If he beats Giannis I think basically you have to start considering retiring his jersey. If he wins a ring here in that way I think you do that.

IMO Pierce should've been the last number the Celtics retired, imo. They went hog wild with number retiring in the 70s, so it's gonna get to a point where Celtics player numbers are gonna look like an offensive line. everyone with numbers in the 60s and 70s. But I do agree that if Horford plays out of his gourd and we win it all he'll be remembered forever. I'd see he'd fit in like a modern Paul Silas. A guy that made his bones on other teams, but came here later in his career and really fit in.

I think Horford kind of fits into the Isaiah Thomas status. They've had their moments as Celtics, but not the culture altering impact of say Kevin Garnett.
But it would be great if Horford plays so well and so instrumental that we win the championship and he's voted Finals MVP.

Well put it this way...what is Al worth to us? What is his next contract number?

I can see that. Or limit number retirements to players that made the NBA Hall of Fame AND played a meaningful part of their career as a Celtic, and for the other players you want to honor, put their jerseys (with names) up there. We have a precedent with Luscutoff.

Yup or just do like a ring of honor thing around the upper lip of the arena.
Red himself said that all the number retirements were a way to drum up regular season ticket sales. The C's didnt do all that well at the gate until the 80s

Haven't heard much on this topic, but where was Angry Al (or Playoff Al) last night? Didn't Ime say he wanted Horford to be super aggressive because he knows the way MIL sets up their defense that Al can get good looks.
Would love to have Horford angry again.

Bucks countered that and Ime tried to align Al's minutes with Giannis. So every time Giannis sat, Al sat...which meant everytime Al was on, Giannis was guarding him. And thats an All-NBA defender on Al. If anything, Ime messed too much with a working formula on the basis that Al was the Greek stopper.
