If you haven't already watched / listened to it, please do. Draymond does a great job of making the interview organic and enlighting. 2 things I took away from what was said: - Draymond genuinely believes Tatum will be an MVP - Tatum still doesn't know how great he is and can be (he's still awestruck, if you read between the lines) www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZTvZlSr3Uc

Watched it last night! Both of them struck me as thoughtful, interesting people.

Just finished watching it. Thanks, DM, for sharing this. Great interview - although maybe that's not quite the word I'd use. More of a conversation. One of the best I've seen. Highly recommended.
Loved that Draymond gave credit to Rob for being a great passer, and JT agreed.
Good stuff from Draymond about the internal dynamics of a team with a superstar and another very, very good player.

And another interesting that we learned is this will be Tatum's first offseason that he can solely focus on his game (he's had engagements every summer since leaving Duke).
Draymond believes Tatum will be the MVP in the near future, and I think he'll be in the conversation next year.

I just hope he doesn't focus too much on winning that award. Better to work on your game, continue playing the right way, and let the award come to you when it's time. I hate it when people campaign for it - the way Embiid has been doing.

Amen. Personal awards take a backseat to championships.
I'd rather be champs with Tatum an All-NBA 1st Teamer, than runner up with Tatum an MVP.

I think that's one of hte best things about podcasts. they don't have to follow a rigid time schedule like tv does. because of this, conversations feel more natural.

The time is here, the moment has come.
If this is the passing of the torch, Tatum needs out-perform Kevin Durant. Not necessarily score more points (though that'll be good), but come up with bigger shots, and of course win games.

Tatum the facilitator! I think that has been his biggest improvement. Previously teams would force him into bad shots through double teams because he was so intent on playing iso and doing hero ball stuff. Now as a facilitator, teams have to gameplan for other guys cutting for an easy layup.. leaving Tatum with better 1 on 1 opportunities.
At his height, its an extremely short list of guys who can score and facilitate the way he does. Perhaps the most notable is Lebron James and the likes of Larry Legend. But there just isn't many who do both of those AND also defend as well as JT does.
