With the news that Kyrie will be able to play in home games, I find myself wondering how much we really want the [HASH]1 seed, or even the [HASH]2 seed if it means our first round match-up is with the Nets. Maybe it's better to let the Nets go against either MIA or MIL, or even PHI, and either get knocked out, or knock out a key competitor.
You could make the argument that the way we're playing we don't need to be afraid of any match-up, but I think there are a bunch of teams that are fairly even, and it's easier to win 2 playoff series to go to the Finals, than 3.
Thoughts?

I'm in the minority -- I want to reach the highest seed we can, and play whoever our opponent is the hardest we can and let the chips fall where they may.
If we lose in the first round, we know where we stand and what we need to do to improve.
Losing to get a lower seed to avoid a certain team means we're not confident is ourselves.

I get that, and would certainly would never want to lose on purpose. I think the two most important things going into the playoffs are health, and how we're playing. At the same time, winding up in third or fourth could wind up being advantageous.

And imagine how much it will do for the team's confidence if we take down the Nets in the first round (not to mention how it will make the Nets feel). But if turns out that we lose some games in our final leg of the season (our remaining schedule has a lot of tough teams), it might be a blessing in disguise.

The big thing I want is for Udoka to do some resting right now. But try to win the majority of their games. Then go nuts in the playoffs and if they lose hopefully it makes them more hungry. Hopefully they fight hard and make the other team fight hard.
It seems nuts to say this but if the matchup is Kyrie vs Smart.....I'm not afraid of that at all. And if the matchup is Durant vs Tatum. I'm not really afraid of that either. Maybe a little, but maybe not. I think the Nets might be a head case team now. Because of Simmons. If they're losing while Simmons is playing horrid...that will be a problem. If they're losing while Simmons isn't playing....that will also be a problem. The only way Simmons goes well for them is if he finally gets out there and does very well. I don't see it. He does have the advantage of knowing and having no problem with his role, but that's all he has.
I think they're a next year team.

Even if Durant and Kyrie get the better of Tatum and Smart they'll have to account for Jaylen, Timelord, GWill, and Pritch. I think our role players are going to outperform BRK's. And our defense!

I'd def like to avoid the Nets in round one. But if it happens it happens i guess.
