I've been very critical of Smart since we drafted him (wantrd him gone many times). But at this moment, I think he's integral for our championship aspirations. Like I don't know if replacing him with Beal is a good thing.

I'm right there with you. Smart drove me crazy for years, and still does sometimes, but those times are fewer and farther between, and I have to admit that what he brings to the team would be hard to replace.

I have loved Marcus Smart for years. I love his hustle and I love all the little things he does that are winning plays. I love him even more now. He hasn't always gotten credit for all he does to affect winning because much doesn't show up in the box score but he has been crucial to the team's winning for years.

Watching Smart defer to Tatum and Brown is probably the turning point for me. He tried too hard to assert himself offensively but he is now accepting that his role is more Draymond-esque. Facilitate and defend. I just wasn't a fan of his corner 3s as they were far too inconsistent.

I'm tempted to say that Smart is becoming Dennis Johnson.

I was ready to move on from Smart. This team felt like it was in need of a reboot, and that Smart's presence may be rubbing the J's the wrong way. But this last 30 games of basketball has made me think that he is worth keeping around for the foreseeable future. I certainly don't think he's untradeable, but it would have to be a really good offer for me to want to move him. That said, I am worried that we are gonna be tying up a significant portion of our salary cap on two guards (Smart and White) who are below average outside shooters.

The transformation of Smart is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen in the NBA and may be Udoka's biggest coaching miracle. He is everything we wanted and dreamed of years ago. It's strange. He's not a locker room agitator. He doesn't jake up horrid threes. He's pass first. He's actually a shooting asset.
Just to know this is possible is almost shocking

He's not a perfect Point, but does check lots of boxes. He's our modern day DJ.

13 assists and only 3 shot attempts (converting 2 of them).
Yup, this is a new Smart.
