This is Year 1 under Ime Udoka and Brad.
As we are seeing, we've transformed into a top 5 offense and defense (since the start of the new year).
I don't know if we win the title this year (but we do have a shot), but let's remember this is Year 1.
Year 2, guys will know EXACTLY how they NEED to play each and every game. They will know their assignments, they will know their roles. We're going to be a well oiled machine. I expect this team to reach the ECF (and possibly the Finals).
Year 3, champions.

My hesitation is that the same feelings were felt in Year 1 of Brad Stevens. We performed really well, we were playing good defense, and it somehow all fell off a cliff. If the Jays get it together and start to accept their 1-2 punch roles rather than both trying to be the 1...then we could be seeing something special for a long time.

And Rob Will is quite probably the most crucial player to get that championship.

Two things different, though, is Brad is a different GM than Danny, and Udoka is different from Brad. Brad knows exactly what type of players to bring in. Udoka knows how to coach with tough love.

Yes but DA also brought in a championship. Brad as a GM is far less proven than DA. I think its too early to say that Brad knows exactly what players to bring in when its only Year 1 for him. DA had years of success, good FA signings, great trade deals, and some decent drafts.
Same with Udoka..its too early to say. The good coaches know how to adjust in a playoff series when the team has studied you meticulously to prep for 7 games.. and Udoka hasn't been put to that test yet.

I was a staunch supporter of Ainge, all throughout his 19 years as our POBO. Bad drafts, bad signings or not, I backed him up.
But seeing what Brad is doing makes me wonder at what point did the organization realize Brad could do better than Ainge?
I wonder if Danny would have brought Horford back? Probably not, because he wouldn't want to trade a mid first round pick.

Stauskas needs to challenge Nesmith in a big way. They need to give minutes to Stauskas and Hauser with Nesmith sitting there and see how Nesmith responds. They have got to make those three guys realize they're all in a fight for survival with each other. Not just be content to get an NBA check. If Nesmith doesn't step up I'd send him to the G league and tell him to come back when he's ready to be competitive and aggressive on both ends of the floor the whole time he's on the floor.

Yup, give Nesmith seasoning in the D-League.
Don't forget that Matt Ryan is also vyingfor that sharp shooter's role. It's an opportunity for him too.
